Hi Dawn,

I'm also a watch and wait fibroidian, and am very sorry to hear your

fibroids aren't shrinking with menopause. I have one large fibroid,

and my colonoscopy experience was similar to 's. I was out for

the procedure and did not remember a thing. I felt no pain

whatsoever, and it was finished and I was awake again in what seemed

like seconds. Mine was done in the doctors office. The anesthologist

came right to the office. The prep was indeed the worst. I basically

spend the evening before sitting on the throne with a good book and

a supply of wipes (much more comfortable than plain old TP). I had

worried about pain also knowing there couldn't be a lot of extra

room with the fibroid, but had none. The gastro doc told me that

women who have had hysterectomy are the hardest to scope because of

scar tissue. Originally I thought I was going to be awake, but when

the anesthologist said we're going to Tahiti today, that was fine

with me. Other women I have talked to about the procedure liked

being awake to watch the monitor, but they're also the ones who

complained about pain. I think it would have been much more

stressful having it done in a hospital too, so I'd go for the

doctors office if you have the choice.
