Guest guest
I get them all the time now. Scratches and small cuts and bruises that I don't have a clue about. I was in the store the other day and at the checkout I noticed my arm was bleeding. It wasn't a big gash or anything but it probably looked pretty exciting to the cashier. > Anyone get scratches that you do'nt notice until later ?? >This would never have happened to me before . >The nerves seem to not pick up small scrapes and scratches >until next day or so . Guest guest
me too. i can scratch or bruise but won't know when. until later i all sudden feel burning, or like pain where the scratch is. i look at the area that is bothering me to find out i have a scratch. and the burning/pain will last for days even on the mildest scratch. so i don't know when it happens but find out later. marfla Be Blessed Re: Sensory Problems >I get them all the time now. Guest guest
I think since we are wobbling all the time we do knock into things every now and then . We just don't remember doing it later. Also as we age our skin gets thinner so we scratch easily and the medicines we take for other things can cause the skin to get thin also. Guest guest
Well that's probably true. I still feel my scracths and I know when I will bruise just by the bump I had..............I guess everyone can experience differently....Flora
Guest guest
In HSP, this could happen on the feet/ankles--if the scratch were very minor (like the test your neurologist gives you on the feet). It's because the longest sensory neurons in the spinal cord are deteriorating--just like the motor neurons. Guest guest
---Geo not scratches but bruises. I saw a huge one the other day right below the back of my knee and for the life of me I can't remember how I got it. It looked awful you would think I would of felt that one. Guest guest
Count me in too! Have had that for several years. Occasionally my left hand gets a tingling sensation...like I am wearing a VERY light glove....and I always get bruises that I have no idea where they came from. Bizarre. Guest guest
At First Carolyn i thaught nothing of this but now im seeing it ,as Mark says its the Long Neural network thats deteriorating . These seem rather minor but ,thinking about this we could someday really do damage to ourselves and not know what happened .I geuss you just try to go on the best you can and hope nothing serious happens . Guest guest
Well i geuss my main thing is i should have felt the pain of the scratch at least . Thats my point ,crazy ,because before PLS i know i would have felt a Pin prick as mark Said but the minor ones maybe since the Neurons are malfunctioning these small injuries dont register . Guest guest
Geo----I always have scratches and bruises in strange places on legs arms and hands and just figured i was being spastic or uncoordinated in a focused moment not noticing. a while into my illness....i mean early on....i ran over my ankles when i first got my power chair and then later it and my hands got caught in doorways and such. little ouch at first like dermally, but inside no. was like it never happened.
