Guest guest
Welcome to the club. Almost everyone has a moment of freak-out when they get their diagnosis. However, the good news is that the likelihood of cancer is extraordinarily slim; fibroids are just fibroids they are not cancer. As you read more info here, you are going to find that you will be able to take a deep breath and relax a bit. There is more than one treatment option for fibroids that can help you to get relief and this is a great place to start doing research. BTW - " signs of ovarian cancer " - meaning what? That you have a cyst on your ovary? These are so very common and in many cases they just come and go. My 6 ultrasounds over 3 years showed me having left & right ovarian cysts, and they just would either move(?) or vanish entirely from one ultrasound to the next. Your symptoms are almost exactly like mine were and my original gynocologist described my fibroid as " your potato " - the only non-fruit size reference I've ever heard any doctor make. Then she told me I had more than one. I was 46. Then she went on to suggest that I plan on my hysterectomy whenever it would be convenient for my schedule. !!! - you can expect that your doctor may say this too. Many if not most gynos are stuck in the dark ages and think that the only recourse is a hysterectomy, and many also seem to like to use the threat of cancer to get your attention. IT'S BOGUS. Anyway, I'm now almost 50, and I had my UAE at the end of May last year. All my symptoms were resolved by this procedure. The recovery is very fast too. This is one of your options. best, laurie g. Subject: Worry Wart I am a worry wart and just being diagnosed with a grapefruit sized fibroad in my uterus. I just turned 40 and my doctor, during my physical, felt what he described as a " large fibroid size of grapefruit on upper R pole of uterus " . What I am worried about and I know will go crazy with worry until my ultrasound appt in 3 weeks - is that my symptoms are heavy periods, bloating and chronic need to pee. These are also signs of ovarian cancer and I am freaked about this possibility. He is so sure that it is a fibroid that he wasn't going to even send me for a sonogram but was going to take the watch and wait approach and I requested an ultrasound. He he being too lax or am I being over-sensitive here? Any positive feedback would be greatly appreciated to lessen my worry that it could be ovarian cancer. My mind is good at making me see the worst in situations. in Vancouver

Guest guest
> Thanks Laurie G. Your kind message was the best thing that happened to me today It is such a shock to know that you are carrying some big tumour in your body. I think the idea of this takes a little bit to settle in. My father had a tumor once and it took his life so I am a little sensitive to the word itself. It is good to know that this condition is almost always NEVER cancer. The comical side of this all is that I turned 40 last year and have always been a size 7/8. Well I couldn't get into my blue jeans and I had to reinvest in some new ones. I cut back on the sweets which always helps me lose that 5 lbs and that tummy just kept on protruding. So perhaps I will still have a figure once this thing is dealt with. Watch and wait....that I am not to keen on. I was at the grocery store today and in the fruit section I looked at those grapefuits and picked one up and it really hit home.....and then I looked over at the cantaloupe's and said to myself " I don't think so " ...... so your procedure sounds very interesting and I have been researching it on the net. Also have read about myos. Can you tell me Laurie if your procedure is successful with large fibroids? I am also getting some blood work done as my doc thinks I might be anemic...shortness of breath. Thanks so much and I am glad to hear that you have fried your potato
