Guest guest
Hi , I too had a small (2 cm.) submucosal fibroid in my Lower Uterine Segment. My symptoms were lots of bleeding. I had a hysteroscopic resection done in November. What they do is shave it down to the Uterine wall. It is not unusual for this type of fibroid to be treated this way as typically it is the submucosal part (the part sticking out into the uterus) that causes the bleeding. I did not have an ablation with it. It was a day procedure on Monday, and I was home in 4 hours. I am a Nurse and I worked a twelve hour shift that Thursday. I did have some endometritis - both my PCP and GYN think that someting was going on (?degeneration) at the same time. I had a period, not a bad one in January and again in February. I am 10 days overdue now but I am very perimenopausal (had an FSH of 118 last year) so I am not worried. I am also on very low dose HRT for unbearable hot flashes refractory to BLack Cohosh, Soy, etc. You do not have to rush into an abdominal myo. You could always do the hysteroscopic resection and revisit your options if your symptoms don't improve. Its a simple procedure with a quick recovery unlike a major abdominal procedure.
