Guest guest
Hi Fiona-I also have a UU, but not much advice re: a home birth. I'd be scared to death to have one regardless of my MA or any other issues!! Personally, I'm a big fan of an epidural and several medical professionals on standby!! But, more power to you!!! You're much braver than me! I had a vaginal delivery with my son 2 years ago. Nothing major, but I did have a few issues that were UU related. First, I needed pitocin midway through labor because my labor pattern basically got " stuck. " For about an hour, my contractions were never-ending (no break between them) and unproductive. Basically, my uterus was so stretched out by that point, that it couldn't contract effectively on its own. The pit. worked and I was able to progress to 10 cm in a reasonable amount of time. I also had problems pushing effectively and had a vacuum assisted delivery...I was told that this was due to the same issue. (I had also spent 4+ months on bedrest, though, and have to wonder if that was a factor. I wasn't necessarily at my strongest!) I doubt that any of this would be a factor for you since you had such a good experience with your first child. Thought that this might give you a few things to ask about, though. Personally, I do think that it would be wise to have the consult with a specialist and learn more before you make any decisions. Hope that this pregnancy continues to go smoothly and that you're able to have the kind of delivery that you hope for! Let us know what you decide! Best wishes, UU, 31 19w, 3d w/ #
