Guest guest
Diane, Ultrasounds are not always accurate about the size of our fibroids. I have had fibroids for about 10 years. In the spring of 2001 I was 49 and had just about decided to have UAE. I had an ultrasound which was done by a different tech than usual. It showed that my fibroids were shrinking. My doctor and I agreed that I should not have the procedure at that time based on that information. When I had my next ultrasound (with my usual tech) the fibroids had not shrunk. In fact, this fall when I had my ultrasound there was some more growth and lucky me, a new one at the top of my uterus which makes my abdomen even bigger. I do believe that the older ones have changed in density because the pressure on my bowels and bladder is not as bad as it used to be. Bottom line is that we can't count on making it to menopause and having the aliens shrink. P.
