Guest guest
Di, Bi-Pap or C-Pap are breathing machines that force air into the body and are usually utilized by people dx with Sleep Apnea as I. They force air into the lungs, allowing the body to acquire the proper amount of oxygen. The only discomfort is getting used of the mask that covers you nose and the straps around the head to hold the mask on. There is a test for the machine and that is going to a sleep lab (probably over night) so the technicians can determine which machine and mask is suitable for you. I have Sleep Apnea and it really works. I get up feeling a lot better with the body getting the oxygen it needs. I have started using it during the daily nap if I'm napping in bed. I've been using one for about 14 months and it is the second item after meds on my travel check list. Norton Re: Rigid Chest Muscles Di, how awfully scary for you!! Guest guest
Thanks . I don't have sleep apnea...the problem is during waking hours the rigidity makes forcing air into my lungs exhausting at times and very painful. Perhaps that is why it has been suggested. It makes sense that it might help I guess. Thanks for the info! Guest guest
My neurologist prescribed a bi-pap at night because of shallow breathing at night. Hopeful I'd sleep better and awake more rested with deeper breathing. I also use the Vest Airway System 2 or 3 times a day for 20 minutes. I wear hand splints but found I can only wear 1 a night. Both hands make me panic-all tied up...handcuffed! Lynn http://spoilingaunty.tripod.com Re: Rigid Chest Muscles Di, how awfully scary for you!! You are very lucky that your room mate is a nurse.
