Guest guest
I have a first-time appointment on Monday with an RE. Does anyone know if RE's will do thyroid tests? I am very suspicious that I have undiagnosed low thyroid. RE's are supposed to look into all possibly causes of infertility and low thyroid is one of them so I'm hoping he will, and that he will take me seriously. (Bad previous experience with a different doc 2 years ago. After listing my symptoms which included fatigue and inablility to lose weight even with regular exercise, he told me 'Half the people in the U.S. are fat and tired. Change your diet and excersize.') I am seeing Dr. Zinaman at Loyola if anyone who has seen him can tell me what they think. Thanks!
Guest guest
I am seeing (on hold right now) an Re for my submucosal fibroid. It is the second one he will do a resection on. I am not seeing him for fertility, (I'm 48) but due to not being able to find a gyn who will do a resection. He did not do a thyroid test. Nor did he do one the last time (Oct.'03). He wanted me to see my regular gyn before I had the second resection because it's almost two years since my last pap test. So I went reluctantly. He also wanted her to do the regular blood tests, iron, etc. I had been anemic during my last resection. My gyn and I were talking and I had said my old GP ran a thyroid test 6 yrs ago because I had gained 40lbs. in a short period of time (I had just quit smoking). That test came back normal. So for some reason she ran a thyroid test and thankfully she did. It came back very low. Normal range for a TSH is 0.350 to 5.500. Mine came back 0.004. She sent me for more thyroid tests, a T3 and T4 in which the T3 came back high (261 normal range is 85-205). This means I am hyperthyroid. My thyroid is putting out to much hormone. I have an appt. with an endocrinologist 6/2. The symptoms for both hyper and hypo thyroid from what I have read so far can seem like the same problems you have when you have problems with fibroids. You can become fatigued, you can have irregular periods, bleed heavy or longer, etc. Here are a few links to check out. I have to deal with this thyroid problem before my RE will do the second resection. But I am glad he wanted me to go to my gyn because I may not have figured out that these symptoms I'm feeling are due to the thyroid condition. I could have had a problem down the road with my heart or osteoperosis. If you are concerned or even think (sometimes our gut is telling us something's wrong)that something might be up ask for this blood test from your doctor. http://my.webmd.com/hw/womens_conditions/hw27377.asp http://www.endocrineweb.com/index.html http://www.thyroid.org/index.php3 --- juice01111 juice00000@...> wrote: > I have a first-time appointment on Monday with an > RE.
