Hi everyone! I had a rough weekend. I was 6ks pg and started bleeding

on Fri. My dr put me on bedrest for the weekend. I had an ultrasound

yesterday and I had a m/c. This is my 2nd one. The only good thing is

that I went to the perinatal center for the ultrasound and the drs

took great care and interest in me. I have been referred to a top RE

and hopefully we will get this figured out. BUT - I fouond out that I

have been diganosed as BU all these years and the drs yesterday say I

am UD (uterus didelphis) because I have 2 cervices. I've been doing

some research and it says that those with UD don't necessarily have

problems with pg but who knows. I did find out that some people with

UD only have one kidney...that would be just my luck. So I hope I can

get in to see the RE soon and get started trying to figure this mess

out. I'm just happy to know I'm in the right direction to finding out

some real answers. I don't want to m/c again. It really sucks. If you

guys can offer any advice or some questions I should be sure to ask

the RE please let me know. And for those of you who were rooting for

me and this pg, I thank you. I'll get 'em next time.

Here's Hoping,

Brandee

not all UDs have kidney abnormalities. some docs

think all this stuff is cut and dried and its not.

also, having 2 cervices doesnt necc mean your UD. you

could be SU or Arcuate (depending on the extent of dip

at the fundus, or top of the uterus). This top RE you

are going to will help you figure it out. not sure if

i mentioned this to you in particular in prev email

but my aunt who is UD had 4 healthy girls- 2 from each

uterus- and only 1 miscarriage in the whole

reproductive process.

Brandee,

First, so sorry for your loss.

Second, Heidi is right - 2 cervixes (cervices? cervii??) does NOT

immediately equal UD. My obgyn has made the same assumption, despite

the fact that every other test that I've had (not done for purposes of

dx'ing my MA), and prior abdominal surgery, would indicate otherwise.

I am scheduled to see an RE next month who lists corrections of MAs in

her areas of specialty because I don't want to continue seeing someone

who (as much as I like her) " dabbles " in the area.

At my last check of the publically available medical literature (last

week), there were at least 17 reported cases of women with 2 cervices,

who were septate rather than UD. Also, there has been at least 1

reported case of bicollis + totally normal uterus.

Best of luck,

Ann

Thanks so much for your replies. I will be seeing the RE the first week in

August and I will keep everyone posteedd. Does anyone know where I can find info

on autoimmune problems being the cause for m/c?

Thanks,

Brandee

Have you had some testing done? I have two auto immune issues that

require daily shots of blood thinners to keep from getting blood

clots. I've searched my bookmarks but I no longer have any on the

various causes. I am a part of a group on fertilityfriend dot com in

the high risk pregnancy section there's a group called injection

buddies. The women there are a great resource for asking, feel free

ok? I'm sure someone there has the links. For me it's been a few

years and I'm sure that after one of my miscarriages I threw out the

bookmarks in frusteration. Your RE will run the tests but maybe now

would be a good time to ask your obgyn to start some as the antibodies

(should there be any) will be stronger in your blood at this time. I

had a wonderful GP that listened to me and took the initiative and

ordered the tests for me before my RE appointment so that we already

had some answers going in.

Take care,

Thanks for the advice. I haven't had any blood test done yet but I meet with a

high risk ob/gyn on Fri to discuss my options and what's next before I meet with

the RE. I'll definitely look into website you gave me for more info. If anyone

else had any other information for me I greatly appreciate it. It's nice to have

a place like this to go and everyone is rooting for each other and helping

everyone along. I'm really glad to be here. Thanks again.
