Guest guest
If you go the healingfibroidsnaturally group you will find a lot of info on progesterone. Unfortunately, it is really inconsistent. The only thing high does progesterone did for me was stop my flooding. However, I still have very HEAVY periods. I just don't have the out of control flow. Dr. Christiane Northrup's website also has some information on progesterone as well. Guest guest
Hi KAC, I was put on Micronor (a low dose progesterone BC pill) a little over a year ago. For the longest time it did help with the bleeding and actually shrunk the fibroids for a while, however, during the last 2 months I have been having problems again with fibroid growth and now pain. Some of that may be the fact that I feel like I'm starting with perimenopause and my hormones are all over the place. Everyone's experience is different, but i will say that especially in the beginning it gave me a lot of relief. Good luck with whatever choice you decide to make. Guest guest
In what I have read progesterone treatment can either grow, shrink or do nothing w/fibroids. My dr didn't put me on a pill form instead she gave me a shot of DepoProvera. In my case...3 months later, my fibroids have DOUBLED in size. I only had one side effect which was lactation and even though I did not take another shot this month I am still doing the " milking " thing and have to get my potaclin levels checked out. The only good thing about the lacation was that my dr saw that it was multi-duct so that means at least I don't have breast cancer. I'm not perimenopause or anything like that. I just turned 26 yrs old. Good luck, Shaunah > Hi, all. > > Can anyone tell me anything about their experiences with progesterone > treatment of fibroids? > > I'm currently awaiting an ultrasound to confirm that I have these > lovely little so-and-sos... Guest guest
You may want to check out " What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause " by Dr Lee. He writes a lot about hormones - and about natural versus synthetic hormones, including progesterone. Since being diagnosed with fibroids, I have been using a natural progesterone cream. I spoke to my gyno before starting to use it and she felt it could do no harm. That being said, it does not appear to have stemmed the growth of my fibroids. I'm trying to focus now on diet changes, the holistic approach, etc. so that I can avoid surgery.
