Guest guest
Hi Chie, I am sorry you experienced that kind of pain. I just wrote to everyone with the same question. I am due for my period this week and wonder about the first one, if it will be painful because of the swelling. Before I saw this post I tried to write to you twice. It keeps bouncing back to me. Please drop me a line so I have your new address. I hope you are feeling better now. Debby
Guest guest
Hi Chie, I didn't have pain with my period after my myo. It was heavier than I thought it would be but no clots like before my myo. It is probably just cramps but I would ask your doctor what it is. Also, something warm like a hot water bottle may help with the cramps and a natural muscle relaxant like a calcium/magnesium supplement. It could be your uterus contracting back down which could feel like cramps because of muscle contractions. Best to you, Pearl
Guest guest
Hi Chie, I am 4 weeks post-myo and having my first period. I also experienced painful cramps, although not as severe as the ones you described. I don't usually have cramps so I was most unpleasantly surprised. Also, on those rare occasions when I did have cramps they were usually gone by the 2nd day. I assume I have cramps because my uterus is still swollen and really confused ( I'd expected my period about 2 weeks ago). The flow seems to be lighter, without the pre-myo clotting, but then again I'm taking Coumadin (a blood thinner) to deal with a blood clot in my leg that I developed after surgery so I expected no clotting. Another post-myo plus is that I no longer have the insistent pressure on my bladder. The visiting nurse told me that my first couple of periods would be radically different from what I've been used to as my uterus and the rest of my body adjust to life without fibroids and as the healing process continues. So basically--anything goes at this point. Hope this helps. KP > 31 days after my last period and exactly 4 months post-myo --I got my 1st period today...I got the most excruciating period cramps this morning, and was groaning and doubling over w/ pain... I'm wondering if the pain was just due to the fact that my uterus is all stitched up and probably not back into its original shape/size yet?
