Guest guest Posted January 12, 2006 Report Share Posted January 12, 2006 Glad you found us. This disease doesn't kill but it sure takes the livelihood out of those who suffer it AND their caregivers. While this group is ideal for getting info about symptoms, progression etc... I would recommend that you also contact the local ALS Assoiation to get involved in a support group. Our ALSA nurse gives caregivers info on taking care of themselves including aromatherapy, calming music and other things. Also your Mother will now qualify for respite funds - vary by chapter. One caregiver in our last meeting talked about being at the end of her rope prior to Christmas and how 4 hours of a home aid assisting with cleaning, decorating, and wrapping brought her back to sanity.
