Dear Ladies of the List,

I am reposting the following challenge to this group, as it is now

getting down to the wire for the group to make this happen! New York

currently has only 22 members registered on the uterinefibroids MeetUp

site. You will need at least 30 individuals registered by May 15 to

get me to schedule my June break in NY for the June 19, 2004 meeting.

Please don't let me down here ladies...I soooooo need a break from

Colorado Springs!

If you live NEAR NY (or think you might be able to get there in June!)

and want to make sure we have a HUGE turnout for the June meeting,

register for the New York City Meetup for the next two months.

Technically, this IS cheating. ;) However, does anyone really care?

Of course, to make things fair, every city is certainly welcome to

recruit members in the same way.

If you'd like to promote the Meetups for YOUR city, there is a flyer

which can be printed out and posted on bulletin boards throughout your

community:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/uterinefibroids/files/

Scroll down on the page to locate the file entitled:

Meetup Flyer Template

I just know there are laundromat or grocery store bulletin boards,

beauty salon mirrors, coffee house messaging centers, etc., that is

just barren without this flyer! Do your part and print out copies of

this flyer and post it, post it, post it!

While the Meetups site does have a message board, it is separated by

city and messages are not cross-posted for every city. Therefore, a

new support group for NUFF hosts and volunteers organizing local

meetups has been created so that some collective organizing

information can occur offline from this group:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/UFmeetups/

Oh, depending on the city that actually wins this challenge...I hope

you didn't think I would actually attend your MeetUp without bringing

a few local friends of mine along as an added surprise...yes, NUFF has

well-known friends everywhere who would love to meet a dedicated group

of women helping women with fibroids! Hmmmm...now, who could I bring

with me to the New York City MeetUP...or the Boston MeetUP...or the

San Francisco MeetUP...or... ;)

So, here's a repeat of my earlier email:

A challenge to the group....

My summers these days are spent sans children, as my sons head to

California to spend time with their father...and those who know me

well, know I LOVE to travel...soooooooo.....for the Meetup Months of

June, July, and August, I would love nothing more than to hit the road

(or skies, as the case may be!) and visit YOUR Meetup. You can help

me choose which 3 cities to visit....by simply signing up the most

amount of members for YOUR city. Here's how this challenge will work:

The city with the highest number of members signed up by May 15, 2004

(the 3rd Saturday of the month) will be on my schedule for visiting

their Meetup on June 19.

The city with the highest number of members signed up for the June 19,

2004 Meetup (not including the city I visit in June!), will be on my

schedule for visiting their Meetup on July 17.

And, the city with the highest number of members signed up for the

July 17, 2004 Meetup (not including the cities visited in June &

July), will be on my schedule for visiting their Meetup on August 21.

That's right, this group gets to dictate my vacation schedule for this

coming summer! There is one little catch though...you must sign up a

minimum of 30 members in order to qualify for this challenge. Of

course, given the number of women with fibroids in this nation and

around the world...it doesn't seem like much of a challenge to me...

Anyone up for this? If not, I suppose I could just stay home this

summer... :(

Please visit the Meetup site (http://uterinefibroids.meetup.com) and

feel free to advertise the uterinefibroids Meetups by emailing others

and linking to it from your own web pages.

Let me know what you think!
