Guest guest
Dear members, I moved to Germany about 6 months ago due to my job (I am a singer) but in 2000, in Viginia, I was diagnosed with fibroids. I was in the middle of a rehearsal and I doubled over in pain and was rushed to the emergency room. After 7 hours of waiting in the " emergency room " (so sure it had to be my appendix!), I had all kinds of test plus an unltra sound and they found nothing. It took a month of more tests at the hospital and clinic and another ultrasound to finally determine that I had fibroids. I'm mentioning all this because I was tod that it was no bigger than half a thumb and it has always been curious to me why the fibroids caused me so much pain then if they were so smal. Since then I've felt them ache on and off and more during my periods. All this time I was also on the pill and I was told that this actually helps control them. Every year I did an ultrasound with my GYN in NY and I was always told that there hadn't been much change in its size or appearance. Right before i moved to Germany, I switched from the pill to the patch (I'm not sure this has any relation but I thought I'd mention it). Since I've moved to Germany, I'd been noticing that my stomach got bigger, especially the lower part but I'm very muscular so I just thought that was what happen when you turned 30! But then my fibriod aches got very bad and almost unbearable during my periods. Also I started having more lower back pains and a lot of gas retention problems whcih caused me some really acute pains at times. When I went to the doctor, he said my stomach was full of air. It was like an inflated baloon. But I never associated this with my fibroids. I did another ulrasound yesterday and my fibroids had gron to the size of a fist and it's pressing against my uterus and blocking passage from other organs also. My doctor didn't know anything about the condition and I had to get him some information I had gathered over the internet just so he would ba familiar with it. I am in pain and would really like to take the fibroids out. I understand the risks associated although I don't want my uterus out. I am 31 and still want to have children. I was wondering if the Myomectomy is the best option for me and if there is anyone out there who has had children after they've had the procedure done. Please help me. I am here without my family, I'm scared that doctors don't know much about it in Germany therefore I have to know what my options are as well and not rely totally on them and I'm most of all scared of losing my ability to conceive with any option I take. Thanks so much fr creating this forum. I appreciate your help and giving me a place to turn for questions. RTA in Munich
