Guest guest
All FUS study sites in the United States are essentially closed as the study is complete. They are doing a few after study cases on their waiting list-but they are not adding names to their waiting lists. Their results have been very, very good. There are 2 study sites overseas doing them commercially. The cost in London is 4000pounds plus 500pounds for a MRI. The manufacturer of the ultrasound eqipment is hoping for FDA approval by 3rd quarter this year and hopes to place 10 more machines by the end of the year. But nothing happens until FDA actually approves it. As for the Mifepristone(RU-486) and fibroid study- The Univ. of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester New York is recruiting for 70 women to be part of a random double-blind placebo control study for 6 months. Therefore, there will be a control group and a group on the drug. You must live within 100 miles of Rochester-no fly-ins. The first study they did was very successful for the women in reducing their fibroids and reducing associated symptoms with minimal side-effects. I completed the screening phase yesterday and they did a very nice job-questionnaires, ultrasound, uterine biopsy. Their hope after the study is for all the women in the study to be able to continue on the medication-carrying them close to the time of their menopause. Without the medication the fibroids do grow back at a slow rate. The positive of this drug vs. Lupron is that the reported side effects are much less. If interested contact Starlene Loader.
