I need Questions to ask IR about UFE

Hi all,

I am new to the group. I have 3 fibroids, and I am going to a IR

on Monday to discuss my MRI and about having a UFE. Orginally I was

going to take a wait and see attitude, but in the 2 years since they

have been found, they have grown and are causing some problems

(excess bleeding, excess going to rest room).

TO make a long story short, what questions should I be asking ?

Thanks for all your help in advance, I am very nervous , I have never

had surgery.

Hi! The 1st question I asked my IR is how many procedures had he

done? I mean actual fibroid embolizations. I was looking for

#'s. I wanted someone with a lot of experience. Luckily my IR had

done over 700.

I asked many quesitons about radiation, particles, avoiding the

cervical-vaginal branch, pain protocal, stuff like that. We had a 2

hour consultation. My husband came (4 ears are better than 2) and

we also went over my MRI. questions you need to ask, any

adenmyoysis? calcification of fibroids? vascular fibroids? All

these will determine whether you are a good candidate for the

procedure. good luck. also, try the yahoo embo group. These women

are in the same process as you, or have already gone through the
