Guest guest
, I also had smallish fibroids, but they were the type that caused heavy bleeding, long periods, lots of clots, pain, etc. I was done having children so I had a procedure called a UAE or uterine artery embolization. It essentially threads a catheter into your groin and sends particles into the artery to block the blood flow to the fibroids. It is one night in the hospital and a fairly easy recovery. I would not rush into hysterectomy at such a young age, but not at any age. Some gyns are quick to mention hysterectomy because that is what they do. You can see an IR or interventional radiologist to see if this would be right for you. Good luck--don't rush into anything. Any medical procedure has its risks and side effects. Guest guest
My quick forum response is: Hysterectomy is not the only option for women with fibroids. Whilst there will be the occasional case when it is the preferrred choice for someone, there are various other less drastic approaches and it makes sense to look at those first. A good example, is the myomectomy operation. There are different approaches according to the type, size and location of your fibroids and other factors, such as surgeon preference etc. The operation enables you to keep your fertility and get rid of the fibroids too. I'll send you an email.
