Hi ladies,

I had my myo on friday may 28, 2004, with Dr. West in NYC. It will be

two weeks tomorrow. I am doing extremely well. I feel better

everyday. My horizontal incision was extremely sore, but has been

healing nicely and I can do most things. I have had minimal pain of

which I am please, and have actually loss 15 pounds. Most of my

weight was the many fibroids I was carrying around (40 to 50 fibroids

were removed of varying sizes from melon to pea) I have pictures but

have not had them developed yet. Most of my clothes are two big since

I was buying bigger sizes to accomdodate my ever growing belly. I

feel like a new person or maybe my former self. I have my body

back. Although I had a lot of blood loss I did not have a tranfusion

and my blood count has been going up steadly. I am taking slow fe. I

feel strong and my energy is returning. I have not had any problems

walking, going up and down stairs (my house has a ton of them)and

moving about like usually. I still have some tenderness, and

numbness in my pelvic area, and some bleeding, but all of that was

expected. I will have my second visit with Dr. West next week.

I must say one thing about Dr. West, he probably does the most

complicated surgeries, and I am a testament to that. I do not think

too many gyn would have tackled my surgery, unusually large fibroids,

uterus backetball size. To complicate my case, I was on blood

thinners due to the fibroids compressing the large vein (in vena

cava) which caused me to have pulmonary embolisms and DVT prior. Due

to this surgery I will be able to go off of blood thinners within a

year. After one week my swollen ankles and legs have returned to

normal. So I am greatful that there is a surgeon like Dr. West to

turn to. I had also considered Dr. Glassner, but decided on Dr.

West. But both of them have great reputations. I also live closer to

NYC. Dr. West struck me as very compassionate, and confident about

his abilities. So when it was time for my surgery, I felt very sure

in his abilites, which made me go into surgery very calm. Those of

you scheduled to have surgery with Dr. West in the future; I feel you

have nothing to worry about.

And good luck to those who have June Myos scheduled.
