I had my D & C on Monday. Haven't written with a update cause I have

not been up too it till now. The day of the procedure I was so sick from

the anesthesia has in the hospital from 5:30 a.m till 2:30 p.m I came

home and was so dizzy I couldn't move with out getting sick slept the

day. Felt better Tuesday very little bleeding and little cramps.

Wednesday I went to woke up so bloated that I had trouble finding

something to wear. I called the dr she said it was still the anesthesia

take some Midol so I did that night my stomach cramp so bad I couldn't

do anything so we went to the E.R. after a bunch of blood work and x-ray

they sent me home with a antibiotic and stronger pain pills. I got home

and notice that my bleeding was increased (at one point was going

through one pad in less than a hour) again and she just said watch it

and go back to er if it got worse (I think I started my period but she

says no). That is slowed down but notice this morning it has started a

little heaver than it was yesterday not real bad (going to wait to call

the dr till tomorrow ) the pains are not as bad but still cant go a day

with out pain meds but I am using the ibuprofen instead of the vicadin

except to sleep. Has any body else ever experienced this after a d&c and

how long should I count on the bleeding. I have to admit at this time I

had a easier time when I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago I

recovered a lot quicker from that than this. I go back to the dr. on

the 8th to discuss the next step on the fibroids and as a follow up from

the d&c

Jean,

Did you have a resection at the time of the D&C? I had a D&C when I was in my

twenties. I came out to the recovery room and felt nausea until they got me back

to my room and my eyeglasses. Then, I soon felt like a caged animal and wanted

to go home. That day, I felt like the energizer bunny and did light house

keeping. The next afternoon my friend drove me to our cottage and I felt groggy

and didn't want to go in to eat (made him get food to eat in the car). I slept

on and off most of the holiday weekend. Then over the next 2 weeks I went from

the energizer bunny one moment to a rag doll with no energy the next moment. I

also suffered from concentration. That lasted about 2 weeks. It was supposedly

due to the anesthesia, and I don't remember any major bleeding.

Anesthesia has improved greatly since then (mid70's). I had my last D&C about

4-5 years ago, along with a resection of a fibroid and hysteroscopy. I had a

little nausea again until I got my eyeglasses, and felt tired for a day or so,

but again, no alarming amount of bleeding or significant pain. I contribute the

better experience to the change in anesthesia and a good doc.

I would make sure you keep track of the amount of blood loss and symptoms and

stay in contact with your doc if things don't improve quickly. Even if they do,

make sure you stress how much blood you lost and your pain levels when you go

for your follow up (or call the doc if not greatly improved).

Good luck.

No I did not have a resection just a d&c due to a thick lining. I am

keeping in close contact with the Dr. the husband is making sure I do

that. Thanks

Jean,

I am sorry you are having to go through this from a D&C. I had one almost 2

yrs ago and it was not bad for me. I only had a little spotting after the

procedure. I actually felt pretty good when I came home from the hospital. The

nurse told me to take it easy and just rest since otherwise I could bleed

heavily. Are you resting and taking it easy? I hope your bleeding subsides.

Make sure to go to the ER or call the doc if this persists. Hope you feel

better.
