Again, why do the doctors say Hysterectomy as a 1st and only

option??? Have you thought about myo?? How big is your fibroid?

I know there may be other options for you if the fibroid is small

enough.

I had terrible heavy bleeding and gushing also. I had a UFE 1

month ago and feel great. I became very anemic, hemocrit down to

24! They put me on iron 65mg. 3X a day. They said it could take

around 3 months for me to build up the blood again. It's been about

a month and I need to get it checked again.

Good luck to you and explore all your options. Find out what

type of fibroid you have, it's location and research!! Jen

Because of my high blood pressure the only solution my gyn doc is offering is

hysterectomy - I'm 41 yrs old and single but I don't want to give up the

possibility of having another child...even at this late date in my reproductive

life.

Hi Luvi,

I also was given Provera and it did not stop my bleeding at all. Depo

Provera is a form of birth control with these common side effects:

Irregular, heavy, or no bleeding. There are also other side effects.

I agree with your internal med doc because my two other gyns told me to

throw out the provera. Check with your doctor about other birth control

methods and ask if you need prescription for heavy dose of iron tablets.

Also search the archive in this group for Ku's advice on treating your

anemic condition. This should be your first priority.

Good Luck,

Jackie

Quick Decision

Would you take any more Depo Provera? I'm confused and I don't feel

up to par because of the anemia. I don't feel like I can make a

sane decision right now. My due date for the next shot is this

Monday, March 8th. Because of my high blood pressure the only

solution my gyn doc is offering is hysterectomy -

Hi Luvi,

I'm going to have to agree w/the other women and say goodbye to the

Depro. I had a shot back in November and even though I didn't

bleedthrough I did have way too many headaches/back and pelvic pains,

which resulted in my fibroids increasing in size. My gyn supports my

decision and which is definately a lifesaver for me. Also, we think

the Depro caused me to lactate which is something I'm still doing

since the day after my shot.

You need to treat your anemia first and search around to other

ob/gyn's for a second opinion

Good luck and take care

> Hi Ladies,

< I would like your opinions. I've had one shot of Depo Provera

meant to controll heavy bleeding due to fibroid in the lining of

uterus. Since the shot on Dec. 17 I've bled continuously in

different amounts. This resulted in a severe case of anemia.

My gyn doc says this happens a lot with the first dose and it

should clear up with the 2nd or 3rd dose. My internal med doc

says nothing will likely change with the additional doses of the

Depo.>

You could try:

NHS Direct, if in the UK

Netdoctor.co.uk

Epigee contraception website Q & A section

Websearches on Depo-Provera

Obgyn.net ?

A book on contraception - maybe browsing in the local

bookshop/library, for quickness?

Ask local pharmacist and see if they have a product information

sheet for that particular brand/ variety

2nd opinion

I'd also ask why there's a difference between the myomectomy

and hysterectomy with high blood pressure, if that is true.

Is the anaemia being treated?

>Have you thought about myo??

Yes, I asked my doc about that, she does them but doesn't recommend

it useless I was trying to get pregnant right away. She said the

fibroids would probably grow back and I would be right back where I

started.

How big is your fibroid? I have seven, none of them are very big,

I think the largest one is 2cm x 3cm. I was told the two causing

the problem are in the uterus lining

I became very anemic, hemocrit down to

I'm in the same boat...the ER doc described my amenia as severe. I

don't know what my numbers are but my internal doc prescribed

Niferex 150mgs...4 tabs per day. She drew blood 2/9 and didn't

call me with the results until 2/18. She phone in the Rx for the

iron. And told me to make sure I get it right away. I picked up

the prescription the next morning 2/19 on my way to work. I got to

work and fainted from the fatigue. I was taken to the ER and the ER

doc ran my blood count again. I'm sure it was probably lower than

when my internal med doc took it 10 days before. I've been taking

the iron for two wks now but I'm still feeling fatigued once I get

to work. It's draining even though it's a desk job. I do have to get

up and walk around.

Thanks for listening.

Useless? I bet she doesn't know how to perform a myo. My doctor was bad

but did not tell me that fibroids would grow back after being removed.

I'd have tell her to go back to school! Once it's gone, it's gone. New

fibroids may grow but your chance of growing new ones is as good as any

other woman, including your doctor's. If I were you, I'll find another

more informed doctor for a second opinion.
