Guest guest
I too am a serious ice cruncher and a while back also discovered the low-iron connection, which resonated for me. When I stepped up iron- rich foods a bit, even that helped. Try a google search on " craving ice " or similar sometime--amazing how many people are out there eating ice, even comparing certain brands for purchase as being " softer. Guest guest
Hi, I'm so glad you're getting the anemia checked out! I ate ice with my anemia too. I'd get up all through the night to eat ice. Yes, in Winter too. I carried it with me all the time. There is a iron that's easier on you, ask your doc about it. I believe it's carbnyl iron that easier on your stomach and bowels. Ku elle garmau schoggibussi@...> wrote: < > Holy cow! Are you serious??? Whoda thunk??? Even now in winter, if I have certain drinks, I'll fill the glass with ice and little liquid, and then crunch on the ice. < > My doctor prescribed iron a couple of years ago because I was seriously anemic (actually, I have been anemic for as long as I can remember). I took them for almost a year, but they caused too many bowel problems (constipation) so I quit them. And now that you all mention this, it's like a light bulb was just switched on... I bet this is the problem I'm having now... < > You're right about THAT! I'm gonna have it checked out today or tomorrow!

Guest guest
Hi Robyn, Get checked for anemia. Slow FE (slow release) iron and vitamin C (for absorbtion) can cure it. You can get Slow release iron at Walmart, Target, K-mart, pharmacies (Sam's Club is cheapest). Check this anemia out. Guest guest
Hi, I'm glad you're being treated for anemia. If your counts are too low, you won't be able to have surgery. Sometimes they will do a iron infusion, this gets your counts up more quickly. Ku Robbydobby916@... wrote: Drs already put me on prescription iron. Guest guest
I've been doing it too since 2000 and I'm not anemic. That was two years after my fibroids were diagnosed and right after I stopped taking bcps. I've had bloodwork done several times since then and everything is normal. I even broke a tooth in 2002 from eating the ice so now instead of chewing large pieces I just suck on it until it gets small. I too evaluate the ice at restaurants. In my opinion--the best ice is on airplanes. Trevy A.
