Guest guest
Look online for organic cotton rugs. There are also organic wool blend carpets; you could have the edges finished & it might give you more choices. I was just looking at a site with area rugs with very reasonable prices that came up on a search for organic cotton. Good luck! -Sara. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Hi , We don't have our new (laminate) floors finished yet, but I am looking for rugs too. I have located these two websites and may well order from them. http://www.allergybuyersclubshopping.com/naturalwoolrugs.html http://www.abundantearth.com/store/naturalflooraccessories.html Another thing you might want to look into is estate auctions or antique stores. Handcrafted wool braided rugs wear like iron and would not be treated. I passed by one of these at an auction a few years back that eventually sold for $10. I'm still kicking myself. I wish I had the time to try to make one. HTH! Lissy [ ] Chemical free Area rugs???Where to buy???? Does anyone know where I can buy an area rug 6 x 8 feet that is chemical free??/I would like to buy one for my bedroom since the floor is all scratched up but my son sleeps with me and I am worried about exposeing him to possibly antimony . thanks in advance, nicole =======================================================

Guest guest
I have purchased a rug from IKEA for a low usage room that seems safe enough. It is a hand knotted wool rug that is different shades of ivory (natural shades of the wool--some of the colors in rugs are done with dyes that contain metals). The salesman at IKEA seemed very knowledgable and assured me that wool rugs are not treated because a) it would wreck the rug and is not necessary since wool has natural flame-retardancy. He may have been blowing smoke at me for all I know. I would be very careful--for all their " Swedish " put on, most of the products are from third world countries. Supposedly IKEA is good about child labor issues (?????). --Lissy > > Hi , > > > > We don't have our new (laminate) floors finished yet, but I am > looking for rugs too.
