Guest guest
Carla -- thanks for the link to the heart health piece on this site -- I've been directed there in the past in relation to this same question. But from my read, the 3 specific studies cited refer to total hysterectomy (including oopherectomy), and then there are two general references to the fact that ovaries " may " fail due to damage to arteries during removal of the uterus (only), and that the uterus produces prostaglandins which " can " have an impact on clotting etc. I am not disparaging the logic of these statements, but I am really interested in the cites for actual studies on this -- negative impact heart health when the uterus **only** has been removed. I have done the NIH searches etc. ***** On chlamydia pneumoniae -- as far as I know, my pneumonia was only diagnosed by chest xray (which is one reason I've wondered if it could have been some other kind of lung damage, perhaps related to asbestos -- though I have had no long-lasting effects). I certainly did not have any kind of more invasive testing. Bear in mind this was 1978, I'm not sure chlamydia was much of a known player back then. Or if they had any blood tests they would have done. And if anyone has done antibody tests more recently, I don't know about it. I do not have any kind of chronic upper-respiratory or chest problems, though my sister (who also had fibroid(s)), has chronic and very troubling sinusitis, and my mom, who had fibroid(s) prior to menopause, has mild reactive (ie allergic) asthma which developed in later life. I don't know the references you are talking about (Tufts etc.) and so don't know what connection you are drawing...will look it up. Do you have anything handy to direct us to? BTW, I had a dalkon shield too. Just while we're on the toxic/substances/devices subject. I think I've tried them all. Warm regards to you, Sunny > > Were you ever tested for chlamydia pneumoniae?
