Guest guest
HPV DNA 5/19/2004 5:25 AM By: Medstar.com Most doctors are convinced that the Human Papillomavirus is the major cause of cervical cancers. Now, a DNA test to check for the insidious infection could mean a major decrease in the disease. Cindy Ott had a hysterectomy six years ago. She says it probably could have been avoided with a new DNA test. read the rest here: http://rdu.news14.com/content/headlines/?ArID=47609&SecID=2 *********************** NOTE: Roseanne Barr strikes a new low with me thanks to this interview....if she really wants " ...to do some good in the world... " perhaps she should back up on her statement about hysterectomy and think about it a little harder before she opens her mouth next time.... SURGERY HELPS ROSEANNE SHED 8 STONE May 19 2004 By Elaine Lipworth THERE was a time when Roseanne Barr was as famous for being fat as she was for being funny. But she is now half the woman she used to be after shedding an astonishing eight stone. And while most celebrities claim that healthy eating and exercise helped them slim, Roseanne is happy to admit she owes it all to surgery. " I had my entire digestive system removed - I should look thinner, " quips Roseanne, 51, who opted for gastric surgery after years battling weight problems and depression. read the rest here: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/allnews/tm_objectid=14253453&method=full&siteid=501\ 43&headline=of-course-i-look-thinner--my-digestive-system-has-been-removed--name\ _page.html *********************************** Treatment Can End Excessive Menstrual Bleeding Doctor: 90-Second Procedure Ends Pain, Heavy Flow KPRC, Houston, May 18, 2004 HOUSTON -- Excessive bleeding, constant painful cramping -- unfortunately, many women face these symptoms nearly every day. It worked for Schmidt, a surgical nurse who is on her feet all day. read the rest here: http://www.click2houston.com/health/3319557/detail.html ********************************** Alternative to Hysterectomies 5/17/2004 WCJB, Florida by Health Reporter Vivian GAINESVILLE- Some doctors say women are getting unnecessary hysterectomies because of uterine fibroid tumors. Uterine fibroids non-cancerous tumors found in or around the uterus. They can cause painful and uncomfortable problems for women. More women could be treated for their fibroid tumors without a hysterectomy, said Dr. Caridi, MD. read the rest here: http://www.wcjb.com/news.asp?id=9799 **************************************** NOTE: Whoa...the penalty for performing hysterectomy in Somalia may be...death???? That, to me, speaks to either environmental and/or bacterial causation. 'Something' is seriously disrupting the endocrine systems of these young women for this to suddenly be occurring in the 15-24 age group.... We have research that clearly links HPV to cervical cancer and Chlamydia trachomatis to ovarian cancer...what is the link to increasing numbers of endometrial cancer???? And, if uncovered, can that information help ALL women who may be 'exposed' to the potential of endometrial cancer? Unprotected Early Sex Fuels Gynecological Cancers in Nepal Keshab Poudel OneWorld South Asia 18 May 2004 KATHMANDU, May 18 (OneWorld) - Gynecological cancers comprise a significant 13 percent of the 50,000 cases of the disease in Nepal, with a new study warning that increasing promiscuity among the youth and early pregnancies is increasing the risk. The study focused on the four districts of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kavre, near the capital, finding that girls in urban areas began sexual relations as early as 14 years, with some even having multiple partners. read the rest here: http://southasia.oneworld.net/article/view/86242/1/
Guest guest
Well, isn't that what we all SIMPLY WANT TO HEAR?? Human causation? Not environmental degradation--arsenic, nitrates etc.; severe contamination makes one of our " state of the art " waste dumps in the US look like a picnic....but hold on what about the Chinese and their use of Nepal for radioactive waste dumps.... Simply type a google search on: radioactive contamination in Nepal environmental contamination in Nepal The latest and greatest? Shipping food products contaminated by the Chernobyl disaster (radioactivity somehow doesn't stay confined to national borders) from all parts of the EU.... And what about the US nuclear industry.... Hold onto your hats, baby, you ain't seen nothin yet...here comes China, Pakistan, Iran, NKorea emulating the United States in development of nuclear weapons, nuclear technology, and where where where to store all of the radioactive waste.... You hit this one on the head, Marsha! Nepal has been a dumping ground for endocrine disrupting chemicals for quite some time. Check out this story with the following info: " More than 70 tons of obsolete pesticides exist in seven known locations around Nepal. " http://www.mindfully.org/Pesticide/Toxic-Aid-Nepal.htm um, obsolete here refers to pesticides like DDT -- long banned in the U.S. but dumped in Nepal by leaking barrels full. A KNOWN endocrine disruptor. Here's another, quite sobering, story published in 2003: Asian Peasant Leaders Slam U.S. War in Iraq, Poisons of Mass Destruction Peasant and fisherfolk leaders from Asia last week converged in Quezon City, Philippines to denounce the current U.S. war on Iraq. They also assailed U.S. chemical corporations that manufacture and export " poisons of mass destruction " particularly in the Asian market that they dominate. By Gerry Albert Corpuz Bulatlat.com A twin-bill Asian conference hosted by Filipino activists in Quezon City, Philippines last week slammed the U.S. war on Iraq and vowed to intensify the fight against the U.S. war of aggression and imperialist globalization across the globe. Representatives of peasant movements from the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand and India first gathered at the Asian Peasant Conference (APC) from March 29 to 31 to denounce U.S. war of aggression in Iraq and imperialist globalization of Third World economies and agriculture. read the rest here: http://www.bulatlat.com/news/3-10/3-10-peasant.html Characterizing the U.S. in such a way as to tie the war in Iraq to pesticide use/dumping, etc., throughout much of Asia was a surprise to me...I hadn't read these specific sentiments previously. Where are the weapons of mass destruction? Apparently, Nepal. And, the U.S. (along with a few other countries) dumped them there knowing full well they caused all of the health issues identified in this story -- which is precisely why they were banned here. I was, however, familiar with the endometriosis and infertility problems left behind by use of Agent Orange during the Vietnam war. Dioxin. It's just not a pretty reproductive enhancing chemical at all...quite the contrary... sigh. some days it's just darn depressing to know there is so so so much work to do to in reproductive healthcare.....it's a waaaaaay bigger problem than I ever imagined 6 or so years ago when I wandered down this path of advocacy....
