You'll need to get further details (such as size and placement of

the fibroids), but often pedunculated fibroids are relatively easy

to remove surgically after tying them off at the bottom of their

stalks. You could then have UAE later on to deal with any other

fibroids. So that is another possible alternative to hysterectomy

he wasn't in today, but I spoke to someone who works for him. She

told me I wasn't a candidate because of having pedunculated

fibroids. She said it could be dangerous. She didn't have too much

other info. She said he was going to write a letter to my GYN and

that I should ask my GYN about it. I told her I wanted to talk to

the IR, and she insisted I should talk to the GYN. When I had met

with the IR originally, he had given me his card and said I could

call him any time and this woman ( the one I spoke to today, I'm not

sure if she's a receptionist, or what) could track him down any time.

decision? I seriously don't want the long recovery, but I need

relief from the bulk symptoms.

Hi,

I was not a candidate for a UAE for the same reason as you. It's a valid reason

to not have a UAE.

I found a RE and had a myo. I had my myo and was released from the hospital the

next day. The best thing to ask a doc is how many myos they do and how many

complications have they had with their other surgery patients. The more myos

they do, the better. The same with any surgery, the more the better. If you

chose hyst just change the question.

Yes, you can get new fibroids. But once removed fibroids do not grow back. Hyst

has it's own set of possible problems that can occur afterwards. You can require

more surgery after a hyst. Sexual dysfunction is another possibility. You need

to research this option as closly as myo. Hyst is not the cure all, simple

surgical procedure that gets rid of all your problems. You may just be trading

problems.

This is a hard decision with no easy answers. The only regret I have about my

myo is that I didn't do it earlier. You may chose hyst. It will be your decision

and it's important that you're OK with it.

I was told hyst 3 times before going to another state, getting a RE and having a

myo. A lot of docs can't do myos so they recommend hyst. Just be aware of this

and do more research before you come to a decision.

There are no easy fixes for fibroids. All treatments come with good and bad

things including UAE. All require recovery time.

I was also not a candidate for embo. It was a different reason,

having to do with fibroid degneneration and the fact that the

degeneration made my fibroids look a little but suspicious on the

MRI. I had a myo. The suspicious appearance turned out to be

nothing in the end. I no longer regret that I could not have embo.

I am fine with it. I say that even though it has been a long

recovery from surgery and I was afraid of going under the knife.

I'm sure you'll be fine also!!!
