Guest guest
I definitely do! Heartburn most afternoons, nausea starting 2 weeks before my period, unable to eat my normal size meals at one time, the runs and constipation alternate every few days. The RE I saw last week said it all can be from the fibs, so I am not worried about it, but it is a daily reminder of the them that I can't do anything about. > Does anyone else experience digestive problems as a result of fibroids? Guest guest
Gloria: Before I had my last myo, for the first 1 or 2 days of my period, I was terribly nauseous (not to mention the debilitating menstrual pain). I regurgitated anything I ate or drank. It got so bad that I wouldn't even try to eat or drink anything for the first day or so of my period. Unfortunately, that didn't stop me from regurgitating saliva (no kidding). After my surgery, it was suggested by my surgeon that the nausea may have been caused by adhesions (formed after my initial myo 5 years prior) that were somehow fusing my uterus with my intestines. I know your pain. Joyce ----- Original Message ----- From: gloriarex@... Does anyone else experience digestive problems as a result of fibroids? Just recently I've been having the runs, I feel kind of nauseous all the time, it's hard to eat, always feeling that heavy sack hanging in my belly. I have 2 big ones (10 cm and 7 cm) that seem to be growing in leaps and bounds, at least that's the way it feels to me. It's really uncomfortable and I'm just wondering if they are the cause of increasing digestive discomfort. gloria
Guest guest
Hi Gloria, I've also been experiencing digestive problems (constipation/diareha) - in fact, it's my worst " symptom " and is almost controlling my life - it gets worse around the time of my period. I am actually seeing two different gynos right now and they both told me that it could not be caused by my fibroid because my colon is on my left side and my fibroid on my right. I completely disagree with them but have yet to find a solution. Please let me know if your doctor responds differently. Guest guest
, I don't know if your doctors are correct or not about your constipation/diarrhea not being influenced by your fibroids. But I would check further. What your describing could also be caused by a common disorder, irritable bowel syndrome. Also, all my life I was constipated two days before my period, then had an attack of diarrhea within hours of getting my period. It can be part of the PMS package. At any rate, I'd consider seeing a gastroenterologist to follow up on this problem. Guest guest
My Dr. said all of my gastro-intestinal symptoms could be caused by the fibroids. Yours are about the same size as mine, and I think everything is starting to get squished or pushed now regardless of where they are located. But I guess I won't know for sure until I have them out and see if all the symptoms stop. Are you planning on having yours removed? I am actually seeing two different gynos right now and they both told me that it could not be caused by my fibroid because my colon is on my left side and my fibroid on my right. Guest guest
: It seems as though my digestive system has cleared up. So I was only really suffering badly for about 4 days. I couldn't really tie it to my period since that had ended before the onset of my symptoms. Sometimes I think it has to do with where the fibroids seem to be moving at the time. Right now it's pretty good. I was kind of suspicious because I have a history of ulcerative colitis - but it was definitely a different kind of thing. How long have you been experiencing your symptoms? You know, it occurs to me that cramping, bleeding (albeit not vaginal) and diarrhea could be the result of something other than fibroids for you. Certainly it could be signs of some sort of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I'd get it checked out with maybe a gastroenterologist. Good luck to you. gloria
