Guest guest
MeetUps website WHY MEETUPS?? I have organized a couple of meetings without meetups and it is a LOT of work & it only happens in areas where there is a person willing to make it happen. Using the website should help us to have more meetings more often in more areas with less pain in organizing them. The MeetUps website is a tool that allows meetings to be organized any month there are at least 5 people in an area who’d like to get together on the subject. I really think that IF and WHEN we have regular strong meetups going in any given area – we might be able to move those meetings off the meetups site – but we’re not anywhere near there yet. USING THE SITE: Once you’re signed up, you have a log on (your e-mail) and password. You can set it to recognize you from your own computer – so you can just GO to the meetups site & not have to log-on every time. If you go to the main meetups home page you can enter “uterine fibroids” in the search box near the top left – and it will find the uterine fibroids page for you. Once you’re logged on and have joined the “uterine fibroids” meetups, there are tabs at the top of the page (“next meeting” is usually the main one). They include “members” which allow you to see ALL geographical areas – number signed up, etc. By clicking on any other geographical area you can see how many are there – what they’ve posted, who has responded, etc. If you want to change to another nearby area – click over on the left side of the uterine fibroids next meeting page where it says something like “612 other cities” – I think “other cities” is a link – or maybe it’s something about “nearby areas.” -- Anyway – you’ll see a list of areas near you & can change which area you want to participate in. You can sign up for as many “topics” as you like. Just make sure uterine fibroids is one of them. For other topics – go to the page for that topic & checking other areas, and changing areas works the same way. You will get e-mails but ONLY about the meetups. You will get ones asking you to vote on proposed locations each month, and telling you what place won the vote (or that not enough people voted) – then you’ll be asked to CONFIRM that you’re attending. Then you’ll get a final one telling you whether it’s a “go” or not. When you log on to the uterine fibroids site you should see whether or not you’re confirmed for this month & see the link to click in order to confirm. I find sometimes the LINKS from the e-mails they send about confirming do not work well – get caught in a sort of infinite logging-on loop – but going to the uterine fibroids page always works for me for doing anything I want to do with respect to our meet ups – checking them out, voting, confirming, etc., etc., etc. NOW THERE ARE 4 CONFIRMED in SAN FRAN WE STILL NEED ONE MORE !!!!!!
