Guest guest
I've been watching my fibroids grow for about 4 years now. I'm at 20-week size now, and my gyn recommends hyst. I'm exploring other options, and go for a 2nd opinion consultation tomorrow. Up until now, my only symptoms have been urinary-related. However, last Friday afternoon, while trying to get up from my computer chair, I was suddenly seized with the most intense abdominal pain I've ever experienced. I was stupified with pain--couldn't walk, move, do anything to help myself. Finally managed to marshall my resources to get my portable phone and get myself to my bed. I called my husband and my primary care doctor's office--and then waited in agony 'til my hubby got home. By then, the intensity had eased, and I could actually walk myself to the car. (I'd been speculating he'd have to cart me out in a wheelbarrow!) But it still hurt. I took all my medical records from the gyn with me, since they were at hand for my 2nd opinion appointment. Even had copies of the ultrasounds. She asked a lot of questions, did a pelvic exam and a urine test (I'm not pregnant--good news for me at age 51!) and tried to call my gyn who was unavailable. She ruled out a number things (no appendicitis, etc) and said I should call my gyn first thing Monday a.m. to be further evaluated. She gave me a prescription for pain killer that I chose not to fill. Called gyn's office Monday a.m., finally got a call back at 2:30 pm. She didn't appear particulary concerned. This just seemed like more evidence that I needed to have that hyst as soon as possible. She even said she'd just had a surgery cancellation, so I could have it in two weeks if I wanted. I mentioned I was going for the second opinion consult. She said, " Great! call me when it's over, and we'll get you scheduled for the 27th! " I no longer feel the pain, but still feel a lot of pressure in the pelvic region. Just wondering if any of you have comments or advice regarding this episode? Guest guest
Hi, About the pain... been there and done that, not much fun! Don't be bullied into a hyst. I heard hyst from 3 different docs. None could do a myo or UAE by the way. I even heard " you'll be back for a hyst when you're in enough pain " . I never returned. I couldn't have a UAE so I had a myo. Think hard about this and ask questions here. Ku Alma jblral@...> wrote: I've been watching my fibroids grow for about 4 years now.
