Meg-

Regarding " Hyst Pressure. "

Yes, I've had some of this pressure, too. My husband, after hearing from his

ex-wife that she'd had a hyst thought I should have one too. I know he still

feels this way, but I am surgery-averse; only as a last resort.......And my

symptoms just aren't that bad that I can't just continue to watch and wait.

I'm 51, and likely pre-menopausal. My periods now vary from a 16 day cycle to

an 85 day cycle - I recently went 85 days without a period, had one, then had

another one in 16 days. The bleeding is heavy and clotty, but haven't really

had much pain. A hyst should absolutely be the last resort. It IS major

surgery, and really should not be considered just because " everyone else is

having one..... "

My husband also dislikes sex when I am bleeding....it seems to " creep him

out.... " though a few years ago, it didn't bother him at all. I think he is

bothered by the idea of the fibroids. He doesn't like me to talk about them to

him. So, I am very glad to have this forum.

As to what you say to people who tell you that you should have a hyst......Tell

them that you have the intelligence to research and understand all the options

and the freedom to make your own reproductive health decisions, and right now,

you're just not interested in a Hyst.

And doctors are always ready to recommend surgery - they can make more money !!

Bottom line - It's good to get input and information from various sources, but

YOU are your own best decision-maker.
