Guest guest
Dear all, Hi- Im 35 wk preg in a non-resected SU and have question for any of you who have made it this far in a pregnancy with SU. Im having some significantly painful cramping today. I wouldnt say it is rhythmic. I noticed it in my back a little yesterday, and today in my back and down low in my pelvis, just above the pubic bone (alot like period cramps). maybe they are rhythmic, i cant really tell yet. baby did his post-dinner kicks as usual, clear braxton hicks coming and going frequently as usual. any thoughts on this? does this go on for several weeks like this? i could care less about the pain, im just hoping that im not going into labor. my doc said to call with any changes,- this is a change but im trying to determine if it is a normal, routine change at this stage of preg, or something specific to SU, etc i havent looked this up yet on the web yet or in any of my preg books- I thought id go straight to the experts... sorry in advance if this is a run-of-the-mill pregnancy question! best Heidi

Guest guest
Heidi, I'm sure this is not helpful one bit. I have a UU (and was on bedrest, etc.) and when my cramping became really strong, my water broke. At that point they were rhythmic (every 3 minutes by the time I got going to the hospital). I did have painful contractions for several days prior to my ds's birth as well that weren't as rhythmic. I also had rhythmic contractions every 3-5 minutes a week prior (at 33.5 w). Like I said, I guess that's not helpful, but I'm sure you're hoping for some quick responses. I realize our situations are TOTALLY different, but felt compelled to respond. I hope you get prompt " SU experiences " . I'm so happy for you to be at 35 weeks! How wonderful! Can you run in to get a quick check? /UU/

Guest guest
Heidi, I don't have an SU, but I am pregnant and I had something similar to what you are describing about a month ago. On a Friday evening I started having terrible menstrual like cramps. They were irregular and I wasn't bleeding so I opted to lay down and see if they would subside. After about an hour and a half it started to get better and I went to sleep. Saturday morning I woke up fine. Then, after eating breakfast the pain came on again. So, I lay down and they went away after an hour, but I decided to stay in bed the rest of the day. On the following Monday, I had my weekly peri appointment. After months of having a stable, closed cervix, my cervix had shortened half a centimeter and you could see that it was starting to open. I tell you this because, as I was reading in a pregnancy book this week, any labor (be it " false " or real) is your uterus preparing for birth. So, I would definitely try to get checked by your doctor as soon as possible. You are so close now! With our wacky uterii it's hard to know what is really going on down there without having a professional take a look. Please take care of yourself! I'll be thinking of you! Guest guest
Hi Heidi - I remember that I did have significant cramping the weeks before Zoya was born, ie. weeks 34 or so until 40 weeks. I often thought that it might be labour, but the cramps never 'regularised " , i.e,. they weren't organised and they usually went away on their own after a few minutes or a couple of hours. If they had persisted for several hours a day, or if they became regular (i.e,., every 15 minutes) I would have consulted my peri, but they never did (that is until I was 40 weeks). Like you I am SU unresected, so we could very well have had similar experiences, but I would call your doctor just in case, esp, if the cramping or contractions are more or less constant. Just two more weeks to term!!! Hang in there!!! Take care, a 36 Complete SU, unresected DD Zoya 15 months old ttc#2 --
