Guest guest
I got through my surgery on March 24, 2004 and thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement. I was so nervous the day before surgery that my doctor prescribed Xanex for me, it worked wonders. The pre-surgery preparations were pretty intense( the term bowel cleanse just doesn't adequetely describe the experience). I decided to go out of my network for my surgery and choose to have a laparascopic assisted procedure performed by Dr. Nezhat in Atlanta and I would recommend him to anyone who has been told that a myo would be difficult to perform due to size and/or location of the fibroid. My surgery lasted nearly 6 hours and when I woke up in the recovery room, I wasn't sure if I had a myo or a hysto until I heard a nurse describe my procedure as a myo with a mini-lap and that I had 4 incisions and that they do that procedure when the fibroids are really large. The only other thing that I remember is some increasing pain which was quickly taken care of. The nursing staff was wonderful and Dr. Nezhat checked up on me several times and I went home 24 hours later with some rather lovely picture of my insides and a photo of what was taken out, it looks like a large pile of shredded meat. Right now, I feel wonderful, my only challenge has been getting in and out of bed and I have to remind myself that I had surgery less than 48 hours ago and I need to slow down. Guest guest
Hi Gwen, Congratulations on having your myo behind you! I am glad you are feeling ok - each day will get better & the first few days are definitely the hardest. I completely agree with you on the bowel prep - for me, drinking the Fleet Phospho Soda was very close to the worst part of the whole experience for me - I hope I never have to drink that stuff again! I wish you a speedy recovery. Take care, take it easy & keep us posted on how you are doing. ~Cindy > I got through my surgery on March 24, 2004 and thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement. Guest guest
Gwen, So glad everything went well for you. Don't over do it. Yesterday marked 8 days post for me. I had abodmen surgery to remove my fibroid. The weather was beautiful and I just felt so great getting my staples out I ended up helping DH clean the house and just on my feet a lot. Well, last night let me tell you I thought I was on my way to the ER I was in so much pain. When I went to bed all I kept thinking was please GOD do not make me wake up with any bleeding. I was so scared. So today it is back to the couch for me. Try and rest and don't be crazy like me and try and over do it. Pam Right now, I feel wonderful, my only challenge has been getting in and out of bed and I have to remind myself that I had surgery less than 48 hours ago and I need to slow down.
