Guest guest
I had hysteroscopic exam with D&C last year (2/21/03). Very little discomfort, one day of procedure and resting afterward. The doctor found 2 small polyps and removed them. I still have my fibroids, however my heavy bleeding stopped. I am now 52 years old and only have occasional very light spotting. While I would LOVE to be done with fibroids, I don't want to go through major surgery, either myo or hyster to get rid of them. It evidently was the polyps that were bleeding, you can imagine what a relief it has been to no longer have to deal with all that mess, inconvenience, and potential embarrassment. I was able to attend my daughter's college graduation in May without the worry of heavy bleeding. If I had not had the D&C I might still be bleeding heavily, missing time at work, and who knows what else. I feel that in the hands of a competent gyno it was well worth the risks. My gyno recommended it because he was unable to complete an endometrial biopsy due to the location of one of my fibroids. I will be seeing him 3/3/04 for my annual check up. I am concerned because I have acquired another fibroid and my left ovary has a cyst again according to my recent ultrasounds. So much for fibroids shrinking when you enter menopause. I've noticed more older women showing up here in the last few months. Perhaps the idea that fibroids shrink at menopause is an " old gynos tale. " Good luck to you whatever decision you make, P. Guest guest
Thank you I will be having the procedure done tomorrow. I hope that it will solve this mystery. I am tired of the discomfort and feeling like I am wearing a diaper ALL the time. Thanks. I had hysteroscopic exam with D&C last year (2/21/03).
