Hey

I get a thing called Stasis liquid or saliva that hangs on in

the upper throat that triggers a cough or clearing. My Polmonologist

gave me a bad or poor tests result because when i blow ,my soft palate

vibrates ,well what happens is it affects the whole test because part

of the air comes out of the nose and part out of the mouth causing a

destinct stepped outcome in the results .You might have a cold or a

lung problem .How did your test come out ? GEO

I have coughed for almost 2 years. It feels like something is squeezing

my lungs (chest) and I cough.

I just got back from my 3 month check-up at the ALS nueromuscular clinic

and the OTL therapist commented that she has noticed a simular " cough "

among the few PLS patients there. When I mentioned this theory to the

Nurologist and Pulmonologist they didnt think there was a connection

and gave me 4 perscriptions for this cough. gary-nc

,

Whenever I eat anything I am prone to get in to a bout of cough. I am sure

to cough if something tiny or small like munched peanuts or almonds touch my

throat. I normally avoid anything (Hot or cold food or liquid) from touching

my throat. I drink & eat " Gingerly " meaning carefully & cautiously so that

I don't cough but one mistake I cough for full 5 minutes. It subsides by

itself. Some times it leaves an acid feeling in my throat - I take a spoon

of milk of magnesia.

I am having PLS since late 80s & I did not have similar cough before that,

it started in 1990.

Hope this helps you re poll.

Geo, my tests came out the same. Nuero didnt like that my spacticity and

sleeping hadnt improved. So he upped my Baclofen from 60mg to 80 and gradually

go to 90mg.

And like I said gave me 4 perscriptions for this stupid cough. Sometimes I can

wrap a ace bandage tight around my chest or when Im sleeping put a wadded up

pillow under my chest and I stop coughing (so I dont know how the Meds are going

to help me) gary
