Guest guest
I am 2 weeks post-myo and was planning to ask my MD the same question during my post-op visit. The post-op visit was postponed and I asked the nurse. (I haven't had the chance to post the question here where I knew someone would have the answer.) I still do not feel the urge to urinate. As Sunny said, I feel the pressure if I wait too long. I just try to go to the bathoorm every few hours. It is a strange experience but the nurse said it was normal post-op. " I believe it's been written about here before -- it has something to do with the nerves getting shocked. Also sometimes the flow would " stop-n-go. " It all gradually came back over the next week or so. I am 5 mos. post myo now and urinating is normal which is a great relief (before I had pressure issues). I would say if it seemed normal immediately after surgery and this is a NEW symptom, then that's something different. Call your doctor and check -- we are good for advice here but nobody should rely on a list for diagnosis etc. Congratulations on being post-myo! Sunny > One week since my myo. Had the surgery because of excessive menstrual bleeding. Never had any bladder issues, but now, my bladder won't notify me when it is time to urinate! Guest guest
I had problems with my bladder post-myo as well. I got several urinary tract infections and often felt like I had a full bladder, but couldn't make myself go. I was referred to a urologist, who after some testing explained that due to the proximity of the bladder to the uterus, it is often disrupted during surgery such as myomectomies, adn most often resolves itself. The nerves to my bladder were disrupted and the sphincter that opens and closes the bladder was not functioning properly, allowing some of the urine to excape back into the bladder, causing infections. This is not your situation, I know, but perhaps something similar happened during your myo that disrupted your bladder. Good news is it did resolve itself eventually and everything is working fine now. If you do not improve, you can always ask for a referral to a urologist to make sure everything is fine. The urologist also did a much better job of explaining what was happening with my bladder as it related to the myomectomy. Emailgs@... wrote: I still do not feel the urge to urinate.
