I HAD MY FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT THIS MORNING. WELL, I ASKED THE

QUESTION ABOUT HAVING A BABY. THE FIRST BABY. THE ANSWER WAS THAT I

SHOULD TRY TO GET PREGNANT FOR THE FIRST 12 MONTHS AND THEN AFTER

THAT SEE A FERTILITY DOCTOR. MY FIBROID WAS LOCATED ON TOP AND BEHIND

MY UTERUS (SIZE OF A TENNIS BALL). NOW THAT MIGHT/MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN

A PROBLEM AS FAR AS GETTING PREGNANT. I AM 34 YEARS OLD AND WILL BE

35 IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS..... HMMMMM.ANY SUGGESTIONS? FACTUAL

PERCENTAGES PAST RESEARCH? COMMENTS?WHATEVER...

Of all the REs (Reproductive Endocrinologists -- OB/Gyns with extra

study and certification, REs can also refer to male urologists

specializing in fertilty) that I have spoken with about my fibroid,

all of them suggested that post myo I should try naturally for 3

months, then move on to IUI and then move up to IVF. Obviously this

treatment plan would have to match my own ethical, philosophical,

spiritual and financial means.

But, since you are pushing 35, when pregnancy rates begin to decline

and birth defect rates begin to rise, you should probably talk to an

RE. They normally say that if you have had a hard time concieving

after 6 months of well timed intercourse you should consult with a

doctor.

Keep in mind that only 80% of couples conceive within the first YEAR

of trying under normal circumstances, but having abdominal surgery

puts women into a different category as there is a greater risk of

having pelvic adhesions that can interfere with fertility.

Also, do make sure that you have your partner's sperm tested since

40% of the time fertility problems are linked to male factor issues.

You don't want to start taking drugs only to find out that your guy

is shooting blanks.

Check out the Ovusoft.com message boards, there are great women over

there with lots of information and experiences to share about having

babies, having fertility problems and more. I've met other women TTC

(trying to conceive) post myomectomy on those boards.

Best of luck to you, email me directly if you want to talk more.
