Guest guest
Hi Jackie, Thanks for the reply. I think I am right where you started. I am wondering, did you consider UFE (uterine fibroid embolization) or did your Dr recommend against it for some reason? I am just researching it all, but my Dr seemed to think myo wasn't an option for me, although it seems many women on this board have had it to preserve fertility. I know the embo is a risk for fertility b/c they don't really know long term outcomes yet, but I can't take the symptoms anymore, and I won't consider hysterectomy unless there is nothing else. I also feel like I want to treat it soon as there is a big risk of more developing if I choose to wait, watch, grit my teeth and suffer! I was just diagnosed...4 fibroids, all somewhat small, and an > ovarian cyst, but have had terrible bleeding pain for a year, really > serious in last 2 months. Guest guest
Have you joined the " embo " group http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/embo/ yet? It is dedicated to women who have had UAE or are exploring that option. There have been some women in that group who have gone on to have successful pregnancies. > Hi Jackie, > > Thanks for the reply. I think I am right where you started. Guest guest
Themis973: My Dr. did not consider UFE. He thought that the best chance to perserve fertility was to go with the myo. My advice is to continue your research. Learn as much as you can. Go to a 2nd and 3rd opinion if necessary. It's your health and you should be fully informed of all your options. I felt comfortable with the Lupron and myo approach. I was very happy for the 3 months I was on Lupron because I had no periods, and therefore no pain. My Dr. says I should be expecting my first period after Lupron and myo soon and I'm already nervous thinking of the possibility of pain. I hope there is none. After your research, you will get to a point when you will feel comfortable with a decision because it will be an informed one. Ask all the questions you need to ask. I did, and my Dr was surprised I knew so much. Bottom line...we're the ones with the fibroids and we need to take charge of our health. I know it's difficult, but hang in there! You have my support. Best wishes. Jackie
