Guest guest
Hi All, I am new to this group and recently found out that I have a fibroid. I was pregnant and had a second trimester miscarriage. ( probably not due to the fibroid but to an incompetent cerivx.) This is my 4th MC and my husband and I have decided to try one more time. However, I am concerned about the fibroid. My regular OB says it won't make a difference, However the GYn that did my emergency D and C said that I need to have this out. By the time I had the MC the fibroid had grown so large that it increased my uterus 6 weeks beyond what it was supposed to. It is inbeded into the wall of my uterus and makes my uterine cavity look like a C. I'm concerned it will grow larger and restrict the baby's growth or lead to premature labor. Has anyone had large fibroids and delivered to term? Should I get a 2nd opinion? Are there any good DR's in the New York metro or Philly areas? Any response is greatly apppreciated. Thanks,
Guest guest
, I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I am scheduled for my myo on March 18th. I got pregnant in 02 and delivered at 24 weeks due to my fibroid. I also had a doctor tell me it won't cause any trouble, but he was wrong and now my daughter and I are paying for it. My daughter survived, but it was horrible what she had to go through to get to where she is today. She also has some major problems. One she is completely blind, two she eats from a feeding tube and three she has very bad reflux. She is a great kid despite all that. When I delivered my daughter my fibroid was 7.5cm. Now after delivery it's 5.6cm. My husband and I just went for our consultation with our doctor who said that my fibroid is partly in the wall of my uterus. He said he can't guarantee me a full term pregnancy because no doctor can, but this fibroid is the only thing I have wrong with me. He said when he delivered my daughter the fibroid was pushing the lining of my uterus in which was then pushing the baby down which then led to my cervix thinning. I was 10cm dialated at 24 weeks. My doctor told me that a healthy uterus should be about 6cm I believe in length and the fibroid is already 5.6cm. The fibroid is taking up room and my doctor just feels the position of it is what caused my dd to come so early. I personally just don't want to take any chances. I wouldn't want to get pregnant again knowing that this fibroid could have caused me all this pain and having to watch my little girl fight to survive. No baby should endure what she endured the first few months of her life. So I feel as if I need to get it removed to eliminate any problems I might have carrying next time. If I should deliver preterm next time around then I just know it was me and I should stop there, but I feel pretty confident that it was the fibroid. Not sure if any of this helped. I just wanted to share my experience with this fibroid. I'm so looking forward to getting it removed so it won't be on my mind anymore. Once it's removed I can concentrate on getting pregnant and having a healthy full term baby. Good Luck, By the way I'm from right outside philly. I'm about 10min from the Philly Airport. My doctors name is Dr. Noronha. He has been doing this for over 25yrs. He is also an infertility doctor as well.
