Hi, Edie:

As far as monitoring the growth of FIBROIDS on imaging studies, I don't think

any particular time during the menstrual period is better than any other.

Much as we Fibroidians *feel* as though the size of our fibroid tumor waxes

and wanes throughout our menstrual cycle, actually, it's more of a *sensation*

of growth and diminution, rather than actual measurable fluctuations in size

of the tumors themselves, during a given month.

However, there are natural, expected changes that do occur throughout your

cycle (such as the fact that the endometrial lining is thickest AFTER ovulation

(during the luteal phase). And that's why the sonographer will ask you where

you are, in your menstrual cycle.

But, if you have a history of ovarian cysts- (as I do--most of them common,

normal and benign), a FOLLOW-UP ultrasound is best scheduled PRIOR to your

anticipated ovulation, so as to avoid possibly confusing a problem mass with a

perfectly normal, common follicle or corpus luteum cyst.

optimal time to schedule it.... i.e.: Right before period, during period,

right after period, etc.??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
