Guest guest
Hi Darleen, Thanks for sharing your sister's history. I am still recovering from my resection, it is being 8 days today and I am almost good !! My doctor said he removed everything and he said about making sure that when he cut the septum he would leave a space ( the wall ) enough for the uterus to be stretched if need, something like that, or be careful that he cut and don't do any perforation, maybe that is what your doctor is talking about.I just don't know how to explain to you ( English !!!) but maybe that is the standard procedure. For those who have had their septums removed...is it standard practice to leave a portion of the septum at the bottom of the uterus so that it doesnt weaken the utuerus? This is what my RE has suggested and is planning on doing in May. Just curious if anyone else had been told to leave part of the septum in. They are saying they will if I am SU in my lap/hyst and they said no surgery they can do if I am UD. Guest guest
Hi Darleen, I haven't heard of that, but I do know that they can't really remove 100% of the septum. My doctor said he got about 90% of mine. There is a risk of cutting too close to the edge and puncturing a hole in the uterus. (no good!) My septum did not reach all the way to the bottom, so maybe other ladies would have input from there experiences about having some of the lower portion left in. Best of luck to you! , 35 SU - resected 6/28/05 ds - 3/13/98 18w 6d w/#2 Questions about septum resection Hello, I have a question please. Guest guest
, I was wondering if your RE put you on anything other than estrogen and progestorne after your surgery. I had my septum removed in Nov, and a followup in Dec. I than did the hormones and now my RE wants me to do shots and IUI. I am very frustrated because I believe it is unnecessary. I was wondering what you took. I haven't had problems getting pregnant just carrying. I had 2 mc last year. Thank you very much for your help. Guest guest
hi darleen i'm (was) SU and had a partial septum removed on 8/05 - at the time my RE could only remove 80 or 90% of it b/c debris and blood started to interfere with his 'vision' (i had a lap/hyst) - i had a 2nd surgery (hyst with u/s guidance) in 8/05 and he was able to take out everything that was left + some scar tissue that had grown there - i really don;t know if that's the norm or i may have had an 'easier' case ..... i think ive read it's common to leave remnants of 1cm or less .... and that should be fine with a pg .... hope this helps .... gabi
Guest guest
Hi , I did the hormones, just like you. I was on Clomid, because my cycles were very unpredictable. My ovulation dates bounced around month to month & my doc suspects I have PCOS, which is part of that. I also have one totally blocked tube. I had a really hard time just conceiving (took almost 2 yrs) So on the 3rd cycle of clomid is when it worked! In my case, it's hard to know whether or not the medication was absolutely necessary, but I do think it helped with predictable ovulation. I'm no doctor, and yours might have other reasons, but it seems like you don't really need medication to get pg - and now that you have been resected, I can't see why he wouldn't let you try getting pg on your own since you know you can. Isn't it better to avoid drugs if you can? My doctor isn't a fan of IUI's - says they're a bit stressful for all involved (including him - having the timing just right might mean it's time to have the IUI while he's delivering a baby...) Best of luck to you - I wish you a happy healthy pregnancy soon!! Let me know if you have any other questions. Take care, , 35 SU - resected 6/28/05 ds - 3/13/98 19w pg w/#2 Re: Questions about septum resection , I was wondering if your RE put you on anything other than estrogen and progestorne after your surgery. Guest guest
, Thanks so much for all of your encouragement. I agree why should you take the drugs if you don't have to. If in a couple months nothing happens I would have know problem trying that. So how is your pregnancy going? Do you know what you are having? I hope your doing great and thank you so much for all your help. I think it is great that even after you had or are going threw a pregnancy that you take the time to help others. Thanks and I wish you the best. mc- 1/05 mc- 5/

It is SOOO hard to know what I should do when everyones situation is just a little bit different than everyone elses! In Vermont there are few doctors who know much about MA's and not too many RE's to chose from. I am traveling to New Hampshire to see my RE now. My RE went to Yale and studied in Montreal CA. I feel he is qualified at this point. I have seen 2 doctors in his practice and the first one was not so great. She left on maternity leave and I luckily got transferred to Dr. Neal Mahutte. If anyone is in VT or NH, I would recommened him at this point. Thanks ladies. I am truly encouraged every day.
