Hi, Jeanne-

My comments are interspersed.

Because he has more abilities and probably a lot more experience to be

confident in? Just a wild guess :) I have also seen positive posts on this

forum

I am 49 w/ no children YET and I also have still not given up hope (although

I still think that adoption is a good option too). These days, anything is

possible. I don't remember if I posted here the story that Dr. Indman told me.

He said that he assisted at a delivery of a healthy, bouncing baby boy. The

mother was a 52 year old woman, it was her first child born by donated embryo.

PS- she was a VIRGIN.

So, miracles DO still happen- virgin births and all! (though personally, I

think the virgin aspect takes a lot of fun outta it). Btw, does anyone know of

a forum for " older moms " ?

As others have pointed out, the best surgeons advise NOT taking lupron, as it

makes the fibroids harder to remove. Perhaps you should check w/Dr. Glassner

as to whether you should wait until the effects have subsided (if they will-

I don't know).

[i'm skipping your questions #2 & 3 b/c I don't know anything about Megace.

I would ask Dr. Glassner about it.

With a good, competent surgeon you will get to keep your uterus.

A hysteroscopic resection is a PIECE of CAKE procedure in the hands of the

right surgeon. NO cutting, NO scars. Back to work next day. I'm sure that

most of us here wish we were candidates for that procedure! I know that I

certainly do!

You asked for advice, so here is mine: Size is not the issue. Your fibroids

are causing you probs. If you want to get pregnant, get RID of them with the

hysteroscopic procedure ASAP. Though many women here have carried

pregnancies to term WITH fibroids- (even with large ones), they CAN endanger a

pregnancy. At our " advanced age " , it is difficult enough to get pregnant- would

you

really want to risk a miscarriage? The way I look at it, the very least we can

do is to provide the best possible environment for our little fetuses (feti??)

to grow in- especially since apparently your fibroids can be removed with a

simple, pretty much painless hysteroscopic resection which will not compromise

the integrity of your uterus at ALL.

I say, IF you are a candidate for a hysteroscopic resection and IF you find

an EXCELLENT experienced surgeon, just GO FOR IT ASAP and start trying to

conceive as soon as possible! Time is of the essence here.

That's my never to be humble 2 cents worth. Hope it helps!
