Good evening everyone...

I would first like to thank everyone for being so forthcoming with

information and I would like to say how pleased I am to know there

is a support group, such as this, available.

My question is, can anyone forward the name(s) of a few competent

surgeons/RE in the Hudson Valley, NY area or in Pittsburgh, Pa?

It is not JUST RT3 causing hairloss. I had horrid RT3 and never lost

haior much but I have always had good iron levels. It is the combo

of low iron and low T3 cuasing this issue. and T4 meds tend to

worsen this situation so thus the increased hairloss. But do nto

forget to work on iron whiel building T3 SLOWLY.

Hi. I've had the extreme hair loss

too. It started for me, however when I STARTED taking snythroid,

now Naturethroid. My TSH is around 4.5, and has been up to 5.72,

but I did not have hair loss UNTIL I started the meds. What I'm

trying now is a switch to Cytomel, since it was finally

discovered that my Ferritin was extremely low, and my Reverse T3

very high. RT3 cancels out the active T4 to T3 conversion. I'm

hoping this will be an answer I've been searching for for 3

years. I, too, have lost half my hair and it's so depressing.

You might want to check your Reverse T3 - could be a correlation

there. I'm hoping there is, so if the problem clears, I may have

decent hair again!
