Guest guest
Hi All- Well, I am finally taking the leap to have surgery for my fibroids, but I am being confronted with scheduling nightmares. I haven't had surgery in twenty years and then it was easy-when I was ready, the surgeon complied and he was ready and I was in the OR within the week. Now, I am finding that the doctor I finally chose to have surgery with has no opening in his schedule until SEPTEMBER!!!! That is four months away. I was floored to hear that, as I am a teacher and planned to be well on my eight weeks of recovery by then, to start school in the fall. And that is too much tome for me to worry and obsess. It took me a long time to finally find a doctor I could feel safe and confident with. I never even considered that he'd be SO booked. He said he can't bump someone else for me and I understand that. Seems like many others felt the same way about him that I did. So, now I have to search again and I feel a lot of pressure time-wise and fibroid-wise. My question to all you ladies out there is, how soon after you decided to have surgery, was the doctor you chose to have it with, available? What was your waiting period? I want to get a handle on whether this case is more the exception or what? a
Guest guest
I was on standby and took a day that another person had given up but my surgery was an emergency. When it comes to fibroids some of the us end up having to cancel due to anemia or fear which leads openings for those of us who are desperate. Did you ask about that? It sounds rediculous but if it is your only option. --- a Stadner ontheroadagainwithoutyou@...> wrote: > Hi All- > Well, I am finally taking the leap to have > surgery > for my fibroids, but I am being confronted with > scheduling nightmares. Guest guest
I was able to have my myo about 3 weeks after I was diagnosed with a very large fibroid in my uterine wall--but that's only because they had a cancellation, so I was fortunate. I know many women have to wait and try various treatments to slow the bleeding until they can have surgery. Press the issue of cancellations and being contacted ASAP when there is one--many people do change their minds about surgery.
