Guest guest
Hi all, Well, the Retreat venue I was excited about for our Women's Retreat in Tampa won't work. 1: it's not available until the weekend before Christmas; 2: it's not handicapped accessible enough. I am now looking into Pine Lake Retreat, which is in Groveland, 30 miles west of Orlando, FL. So for flyers, you'd fly into Orlando. You'd have to rent a car yourself or rent one with another woman in our group. It's possible that drivers-in could pick you up at the airport but I can't guarantee that at this point since I don't know who is coming. It is a Christian Retreat center in a nature setting and is open to any group to book their event or retreat there. _http://pinelakeretreat.com/_ (http://pinelakeretreat.com/) I just got off the phone with them and this location might work for us for a 3-night, long weekend Retreat. He says some of the lodging is accessible for wheelchairs. Their lodging is a variety of chalets, lodges, dorms, RV park, etc. The Lodges can accomodate more people than our group but that's good because some of the beds in that count are bunk beds and of course none of us want to climb onto an upper bunk... There are a variety of activitites like nature walks, mini golf, bicycles, canoes, jacuzzi, etc. that we can pay for. They have golf cart rentals, which might work for some of us crazier walkers. VERY IMPORTANT: If you are interested in going to the Women's Retreat I need to know if you are still interested and if you would be willing to go to this location. I can't begin to plan this unless I have a good idea of # of women. Look at questions below and answer to me personally. I'm still focusing on an October long weekend and the contact there said that time period might work on their end. Once I know more specifically who is interested, I can get serious in a discussion with them to find out if they can really meet our needs. If not, I may have to look into a Holiday Inn or other type hotel with function rooms and I'd go back to the Tampa area. Thanks Kathi This is what I need to know if you are interested: (For Pine Lake, we'd all be in a Lodge so you'd be sharing a room with others. So if you bring a spouse, I'd have to plan for that) -If you'd be coming alone or with a spouse. -If you use a wheelchair. -If you'd fly in or drive in. If fly: can you rent a car yourself, share rental, or need someone to pick you up? If drive, can you pick someone up at the airport? NOTE: This would be 3 nights. I don't know pricing yet but 3 nights overnight and food for 3 days does add up so you need to have the resources to do this.
