Guest guest
I was just wondering if being tired all the time is one of the symptoms of fibroids. I know that if heavy periods cause you to be anemic then that would be a very good reason to feel run down. However, I do experience heavy periods but I'm not anemic and sometimes I am just so worn out that I feel like I can't function. I am only 29 and only hope that after having my ab myo (scheduled for april 22nd) I will begin to feel youthful again. I have one 8.6cm(at last look 2 months ago) fibroid but I don't have many of the sypmtoms that I see other people write about. Can anyone shed some light on how a fibroid can zap you of your energy?!?

Guest guest
Hi, Besides anemia (you don't have to have heavy periods to get this), fibroids can interrupt your sleep with the need to pee through the night or pain and this wears you out too. You'll be up through the night changing pads if your bleeding and heavy bleeding takes a toll on you too. You can be tired from the side effects of some of the meds you can be using in your fibroid treatment. With fibroids you have lots of reasons to be tired. I feel much beeter after my myo. Lots more energy. A big difference. Look forward to it. Good luck with your myo, Ku smiln2004 smiln2004@...> wrote: I was just wondering if being tired all the time is one of the symptoms of fibroids. Guest guest
I am still recovering from my myo so I am pretty tired, but not as tired as I was with fibroids. Now, I also have been treated for a thyroid issue. Although, I am doing a lot of reading lately and there may be a connection between thyroid, fibroid, progesterone, and estrogen. Very confusing. Anywhoo, my point is I now have more energy with those big blood sucking buggers GONE!! Debbie > I was just wondering if being tired all the time is one of the > symptoms of fibroids. Guest guest
Hi, Eating ice is a symptom of ANEMIA. Anemia can be very dangerous. Take slow FE iron (slow release iron) with vitamin C for absorption. If your anemia is really bad, you may need an iron infusion. You can buy this slow release iron anywhere (Kmart, Walmart, Targett - Sam's is best priced). You need to get checked by a doc. It can take a year to replenish your iron stores. Get the iron and start it today. No soda, tea or caffine. It interfers with iron absorbtion. Once your iron is so bad eating iron rich foods are not enough, you need the pills. You'll feel better after a short time of taking them but must build your stores back up, like I said up to a year. Also note that anemia can make your bleeding worse to boot. I ended up in the ER for anemia more than once, my friend just did... so treat it before you end up in the ER. Guest guest
Besides all the obvious causes of being tired-anemia, interupted sleep, etc. I remember when I had my first ultrasound (4 years ago) and my fibroids were still small and the tech said, " Get those things out of you NOW! " I looked at her and said, " Why, they aren't causing me any problems. " She responded by telling me that just the fact that they are there, they are like predators groping for blood supplies and nutrients of your body to live and thrive on and they will exhaust you. " At the time, I wasn't going to be swayed by her words because surgery just wasn't something I would even remotely consider. However, four years later, I can't wait to get these blood suckers out of me-and yes, I am NOT anemic (just had a CBC) and I don't get up to pee or any of the rest of it, but I am wiped out 24/7 just from carrying these babies around for years. Delivery is long over-due! Dawn --- smiln2004 smiln2004@...> wrote: > I was just wondering if being tired all the time is > one of the symptoms of fibroids. Guest guest
Craving ice is an anaemia symptom some people have (Not everyone!). It would be very wise to see a GP, have blood test arranged to discover exacly hat your iron and other levels are like and get a proper prescription for tablets of the correct type and dosage for your case. It could be dangerous to self-prescribe iron. You need not too much and not too little. Also we're not doctors and there might be a different problem we wouldn't have guessed.
