Guest guest
Oh Di I am so sorry. Did the hot stuff also burn tissue? Hope not. Now listen Lady!! I am NOT going to race you to get to the other side so you might as well give up the thought of getting there before I do!! Wish you were here with me. It's 80 and climbing. We could roll out on the new patio, lean our heads together, and snooze in warmth. Consider yourself hugged. Eva
Guest guest
Hi Di! It should only take about a week. But you may still feel aftereffects for almost a year. At least I did. Scary little experience, huh? Mine was. I was told that if I had waited about 2 hours more (which was my plan), I would have died. Came within a few millimeters of it anyway. My neuro wanted me in his hospital so he could direct my care. My local hospital was more than willing to send me because of my startle reflex and paroxysmal spasms. Best move they, or I, could have made. I was placed under the care of a Critical Care Pulmonary Specialist. He later told me I was about 10 minutes away from being put on a respirator when my lungs began operating on their own much better. He still doesn't know why, but he does believe what I told him. I was in God's Hands all the time and He didn't want me yet. He believes this because others in similar situations have told him the same thing. They had similar experiences, also, with their lungs suddenly starting to work again. I don't want to start a big argument here, but this is my belief. I don't know what my temperature went to, but it was high. My blood pressure about the time I was being considered for the respirator was 60/40. When I asked, breathlessly, what it was, I thought " cool, " my blood pressure isn't going to be a problem. Yeah, right. I find out when I return to work that that BP is barely life sustaining. The whole time, I was not worried in the least. Just another trip to the hospital. Amazing what ignorance can do for you!! Recover soon and be well. Mike Gray Aspiration Pneumonia > Hey there. Guest guest
Hi Mike. Wow...you really DO know the experience! And yes...I agree that...at some point....you let go and let God. I think it is going to be a while before I am back on my feet (so to speak!). But thank God I came through it. from now on....i drink with a straw....as was recommended to be my my neuro.....that way...your head is down and less chance of choking. Anyway....thanks for sharing your experience Mike! Take good care. Di......Canada > > Hi Di! > > It should only take about a week. But you may still feel aftereffects for > almost a year. Guest guest
Yes, they rehydrated me and pumped me with IV antibiotics. Now i have to take them for a bit longer. It is NOT a fun experience. I felt I was drowning and really stuggled to breath for a couple of days. Today...still having some breathing trouble and weakness. They actually were very good at the hospital. I was lucky i didn't wait too long before I went in.........could have been a lot worse. Thanks for your concern Alper. Take good care! Guest guest
Oh Eva...that was SO kind. I DO feel 'hugged'. Naaa...I have decided that I am going to hang around for a long time so i can become a burdon to my kids (LOL). I was lucky.....it was close. They think that there may be some scald in the bronchia....so it is going to take some time to heal. Bless you for your caring and your wonderful humor Eva. HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love Di......Canada > > Oh Di I am so sorry. Did the hot stuff also burn tissue? Hope not. > Now listen Lady!! Guest guest
Mata, The pneumonia lasts for five years if I'm not mistaken. My mother got one (she's 84) and I thought that was what the doctor said. ...Flora
Guest guest
Pneumonia: an inflammation of the lungs caused by a bacterial, viral, or fungal infection. The pneumonia shot gives protection against one specific bacterium (Streptococcus). Aspiration pneumonia is VERY dangerous because aspirated items may bring about pneumonia as the result of other forms of bacteria, virus, or fungus. This is especially dangerous when the items aspirated are solid and become attached to the walls of the lung. Aspiration pneumonia is reportedly the most noted reason for death of PLSers.
