To those of you ladies who have had C-sections,

Now that I have the go-ahead to TTC, I have been investigating all that will

come along with pregnancy. My gyn says I will definitely be a candidate for

a C-section since I have had many uterine surgeries that required cutting

through my myometrium wall. I had two abdominal surgeries that were similar

in recovery time and mending. My question for you ladies is...

.... Is the recovery time from a C-section similar to an abdominal myo

surgery?

Of course, this question comes along with many other questions. If you have

time, would you mind answering as many of them that pertain to you?

- Were you given the options of a general or an epidural anesthetic during

your C-section?

- If you chose the epidural, was there any discomfort during the surgery?

- With an epidural, were you groggy or wide awake to see the birth of your

baby?

- Were you squeamish, did you see the incision and the blood lost during the

delivery? Any nausia?

- If it was a planned C-section, how many days ahead of your due date was it

scheduled?

- How did you manage caring for your newborn while recovering from the

C-section?

- Did you take any pain pills, if so, which ones were safe if you breast fed

your baby?

- Did you have any surgical complications with your C-section?

- Did you ever need a blood transfusion because of the C-section?

- How long did you have to stay in the hospital?

- Was there any risk to your baby with the anesthetic or pain medications?

- Were you worried that your baby might not be ready to be born since the

surgery was planned ahead of time?

- If you had a choice between natural delivery and C-section, why did you

choose the surgery?

I know this is a long list of questions, but I am quite worried about the

whole idea of the procedure. Most women I have spoken to who have

experienced C-sections tell me they wished they would have given birth the

natural way. I have not been given a choice because there is too high of a

risk for uterine rupture during birth. So I am faced with many questions. I

want to be prepared with all my questions for my doctor when I see her at my

next apt. This will be when I am at leasst 3 months along with my " near

future " pregnancy!

So if any of you with the surgical birth experience can offer your advice, I

would very much appreciate it.

Thanks to you all.

May your day be filled with memorable blessings,

Sonja :)
