Guest guest
Meet-ups. I think this could prove to be an excellent way for us to get-together in all sorts of locations. I have been a meet-ups member for several months and have joined a couple other meet-ups in the past & it has proved to be a good way to get together with others who have similar interests. I have not had any problems with shared email info or spam as a result of being a meet-ups member. Many politicians have been successfully using the meet-ups to get supporters together. I would encourage all to sign-up in order to receive the messages about dates/proposed meeting locations – be able to search for other meetings in nearby areas, etc. The one problem I foresee, is the geographic areas they use are relatively small. Instead of trying to get a group together for an entire metro area, they look at it on a city by city or county by county basis and try to set a separate meeting up in each little locale. The gathering in San Francisco on January 25 drew 10 women from at least 4 different counties and one other state. The east coast group included women from several states. Thus, in order to get enough participants to make these gatherings a “go,” (at least in the beginning), I think we’ll need to agree to one location in each region each month and all the ladies in that region go for the agreed location. The location can move around from month to month. For the S.F. Bay area – we were in S.F. proper last time, talked about meeting in S.F. in March, and the largest contingent (4) was from Alameda County, soooo I’m proposing that ladies in the Greater S.F. Bay Area – choose “ALAMEDA COUNTY” as their preferred location for the February meet-up. – After March we can try moving it around. I also suggest that we vote for meet-up locations near BART lines – so that ladies can get there easily. In addition to the one attendee from Santa Cruz – another lady from Santa Cruz was interested & one from Monterey. Possibly you ladies could also get a Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay area meeting going????? We have to get at least 5 people signed up in the same area in order for a meeting to take place there. Other ideas, suggestions?? -- Pat _________________________________________________________________ High-speed users—be more efficient online with the new MSN Premium Internet Software. http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-us&page=byoa/prem&ST=
