I have to take exception to the way you characterized UAE in your posting.

There is plenty of misinformation on the web about UAE and it sounds like you've

seen some of it. Your posting would suggest to other women that they run the

risk of their bladder artery being embolized or their uterus 'dying'. This is

sounds like the scare tactic info that's out there (promoted quite a bit by

organizations which purport to be pro-women's health but are really

pro-myomectomy and ultimately really only pro-money-in-their-pockets.)

I had my UAE in May 03. There is an entire group, called 'embo' here on yahoo

groups. Most of us have had very good results from our procedures. I know that

there is a chance that a UAE will not solve the fibroid problem (especially if

adenomyosis and endometriosis are part of the overall problem.) These women may

well go on to have additional surgeries such as myo or even hyst. However -

this is not because the UAE hurt them.

My bulk symptoms (from a 10cm fibroid plus 3-5 smaller ones) were entirely

resolved by UAE with a very short recovery period (I did housecleaning two days

after my procedure and was back at work on the 5th day post-op) and apparently

no side effects. I urge you not to be so hasty to judge this procedure as

negatively as you have.

best,

laurie g.

Thank you for your response; I didn't mean to scare ANYONE from the

procedure, I was referring to quite slim possibilities that my doctor

told me about.
