Advice for me when I see my gyn to discuss what to do

I'm new to the group. I'm almost 48 and have been dealing with

fibroids for at least 4 years. Between my last pap and the one

before, a span of 6 months, my gyn found what he thought was a

punduculated fibroid. After an ultrasound, both abdominal and

vaginal, he found 3 very sizable ones: tennisball (probably the

punduculated one), racketball, and golfball. On the phone he assured

me he could do a hyst vaginally. I am not interested in a hyst unless

I have no other options, ie cancer or hemorrage, of which I have

neither.

So, all you experienced ladies, what do you think? I've read a bit in

the last 24 hours about the use of EUA (?) and other alternatives,

and of course many variations of surgical techniques, minus hyst, to

remove the biggest one.

Thanks,

Robin

My appointment is Feb. 3.

Hi,

You can check out UAE but it can't be done on some fibroids, check with an

Interventional Radiologist (IR). You can always have a myo and they can get them

all out at once. The size won't make a difference. If you don't want a hyst, you

don't have to have one. You may check with a RE if your GYN doesn't have myo

skills. You need to ask your doc how many myos he/she does and if he/she had

problems during if you go this route. Don't just let them tell you hyst is your

only option (often it's the only thing they know how to do). I got told hyst 3

times before I had a myo. I couldn't have a UAE.
