Hi Dorothy. ttc is trying to conceive. Sorry about that. I wish you the best

in having children. God bless!!

First of all, what is ttc ?

As for fertility, I asked my doctor last week during my

follow up about fertility etc. He told me that I can

have kids whenever I want, so I guess my fertility was

preserved. Now time will tell.

Hi all,

I've been pretty MIA lately, so I'll quickly re-introduce. I'm

Christie. According to a hysterscopy performed last summer, I have

a septum extending 2/3 the length of my uterus. The OB who

delivered dd states defintitively that I am not BU or UD, and

definitely SU.

I also had a transverse vaginal septum removed in 1992 (during which

time I was told that I had *no* uterine septum. Despite the septum,

I have been blessed with two children, both born full-term.

Nonetheless, before I have any further children, I want to have the

septum removed.

I consulted with an RE here in Albany, NY, and he was hesitant to do

the surgery given that I have had two full term pregnancies. He is

still willing, however.

My concern is that he uses Lupron to thin out the uterine lining

prior to surgery so that he can see better and avoid perforation.

While I would certainly like to avoid the perforation, I have read

some pretty scary things about side effects of Lupron which include

chronic pain and memory loss. I know that you can't always believe

what you read, but it is hard to ignore those experiences.

My question is this--those of you who have had a septoplasty and

those about to, what drug treatment did/will your surgeon

use/recommend, if anything? It seems that some simply time it

according to your cycle and don't use drugs at all. Were you

satisfied with the outcome?

Those of you who used Lupron, what was your experience?

Thanks so much for your responses! I am sorry to bother you all, as

I know it may seem petty given how I have been so blessed already.

Please know that I keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers!

Hi Christie,

I had a single lupron shot one month before my septoplasty. It was

not pleasant. I didn't have too many hot flashes (which is the only

thing my dr warned me about) but I had bone aches and towards the

end my head did not feel very clear. My symptoms disappeared

immediately after the surgery when I started taking estrogen. I

think most of the permanent side-effects happen to people who have a

series of injections. I don't know if I would take the lupron if my

dr told me I needed a second septoplasty. I would be worried about

the side effects. I think one shot is not the end of the world even

though it is not pleasant.

If you do go on lupron, make sure you get plenty of calcium.

Christie,

I had a resection in January and my doctor (who was very up-to-date

on all of the latest MA news and treatments - I researched

obsessively beforehand!) didn't prescribe anything for me before the

operation except birth control pills, which he said thin the lining

just fine. He actually said that if I was reluctant to take

hormones, he could have just timed the operation to my cycle

according to when the lining was thinnest. I know very little about

Lupron, but based on other comments on this board I would strongly

recommend you to question your doctor on that.

Best of luck to you!

Lindsey
